How to make Fancy Monograms

I seen a titles/monograms with a pattern inside and then white rim. How is that done?

Is it 2 letters on top of each other? Is each letter done separately?

Can someone recommend a font to use? I can't seem to find the right one.

I've done something like that with the following technique
Insert Text
Effects>Fill with color or texture>fill text with an element of choice or color (flattens it no editing possible after)
Then -
Effects>Edges > Highlighted > I usually use "thick under" for text and reduce thickness and change color to my liking
Just make sure your text is what you want because you lose the ability to spell check, or revise after either of these effects.

Never thought to use edges - highlighted. Will have to try that. Thanks.

Wow! I tried this and I was so pleased with the results. I added mulitple edges to see how each edge enhanced the Monogram. Thanks for the great tip!
