Question about recoloring ribbons

Hello,

I have a question about recoloring ribbons. Let's say that I have a grossgrain ribbon that I would like to change to another color. If I use the fill with color/texture option, it fills it with the color I want BUT (you knew a but was coming, didn't you?) it wipes out the texture and I end up with a flat, colored ribbon.

The recoloring option owrks great when the ribbon is white, but when the ribbon is dark, like black or blue, the re-color option is not good.

What other options do I have? Thank you for your help. Kait

I do use the change hue function - I also have mixed results with that too. Someone posted about putting the eyedropper on the color you want and geting the numeric code - then entering the number into change hue. I've tried that with mixed results too. I do have an better result when the element is all one color. I have never been able to change one color in an element with multiple colors. I will be waiting to see what you other DIP diva's do.

Hi, and thank you for the suggestion. The same as you, I have tried the change of hue selection and getting the numeric values with mixed results, just as you stated. That is why I was hoping for a different answer. Kait

Your best option is using Effects> Change Hue. This keeps the texture but its a bit of trial and error matching the color you want exactly.
You just have to manipulate the balls til you get the best result you want.
If an element si back or white you can change it so that you can then apply a color by selecting teh object and using TouchUp> Color and saturation. Push any color slider up so the object changes color. Then use Effects> Change hue to change teh color again.
Another alternative if you are desperate is to duplicate teh object, fill it with teh color you wnat and then use transparency to fade it til the texture from teh object underneath comes through. Not particulary sucessful but an alternative.

SR - Everytime you post a message I learn something new! You are amazing! I didn't know that about the black and white change of color...I always was frustrated that I couldn't change the color...but thanks to you...now I can
