Help with resizing layouts

Hello everybody,

You don't know how happy I am to be back at SBB - I was suffering from withdrawal
I am happy to be back home

I need help with resizing my layouts to post at the website. I usually create my layouts at 12x12, 300 dpi. Usually the files are big and I have to reduce the file to small view and it really degrades the quality of the layout.

What would be the ideal size and DPI so that the layout looks its best without significant quality degradation? Looking forward to hearing from all the DIP Divas in our house!

Thank you for looking and hopefully helping.

Kait

Are you using the save for web option?

I do select the medium view and most times I am happy with the results. I was just hoping to find a good happy medium. You know what I mean? Sometimes I look at other people's layouts and they look so clear and I wish I could make mine just as clear. When I create them, they are sharp, but when I reduce, the quality diminishes. Thanks for the suggestion/help. Kait

One thing you can do is to save the "big" layout as a jpg, then close out that file..open it again go to format>resize image>500x500 pixels>done. The save the layout again (with a different name so you don't save over the orginal "big" one. then close out the file again and reopen it. go to format>resize image>72 dpi>done. then save it again... you won't lose hardly any of the quaility this way, but still have it under the 125K limit SBB allows. Hope this helps you

Thank you Knightsgal76 for the help. I will certainly give it a try. I knew you "gals" could come up with a good solution!

Alternatively check your compression options. When you save for web and the save window opens click on Options. You ahve a slider there that allows you to control the compression. It default at about 85. You can increase this and may get better results
