Filling Fonts with a Pattern

I would like to know if someone can tell me how to fill a font with a background paper so that it matches the kit. I hope that I am asking the question correctly. Thank you to anyone that can help.

not sure if your software does it the same way, but in Photoshop you lay the patterned paper over top of your word then w/the paper layer selected hit Control G (to create a clipping mask). voila!

Drat I was hoping that would work in DIP, but nope, lol!

The only way I know how to do it in DIP is to create your text, highlight then:
Click effects/Fill With Texture/Color
Click on Picture then Open A Picture
Select whatever file you want to fill the text with then click ok and then done and then OK at the prompt. This will flatten the text so make sure you don't need to edit spelling first, hee hee.

Thanks Kim for the link to your tuts. These are great! I will try each one of them. I had no idea you could do all this in DIP 10. Thanks a lot!

I do what KimJohnson does in order to add a pattern to text. You can also use the filters to change the text too (or tweak it to emphasize the pattern). And once it's flattened and treated as an element instead of text - you can also use the shadow feature to make the text stand out.

Now I've got to go check out the tutorials
