DIP program problem

I have owned DIP Pro 10 for about 1 month. It frequently freezes up when I am adding elements and using some of the program's features. I have lost a number of pages that I had be working on. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I re-install it?

Thanks.

Lynne

This happens to me quite frequently. The reason is not enough memory. My computer is only 4 years old but could be considered a dinosour with only 256 MB DDR and P3 processor. I'll be getting a new computer by the end of this summer with upgraded everything. I cannot wait!

One thing I found helps a lot is to close out all other applications while you are working on your layouts. This will free up some memory. You could also try to work with a lower resolution (i.e. 100 dpi) or a smaller size layout (i.e. 8x8 in). Other than that I'd suggest a memory upgrade. If you are working with a desktop PC you can easily add another memory chip and they really aren't that expensive.

you can also try to keep the things that you have open in dip to a minimum. if you have to open up other pages, etc. , close them as soon as you're done. try to only work on one page at a time. the more things that your computer is having to do while your working the slower it will be and more likely to freeze up.

I've also encountered this problem when I am working with large files and run out of memory.
The best things to do are the following:
- have as few applications open as possible
- have as few files as possible in DIP open at the same time
- when you have finished with one file, e.g. inserting an element - close that file.
- when you make a lot of changes you need to save as frequently as you can.
- when you notice your PC getting slower, close that file and reopen it again (I suspect it has something to do with the "undo" function - the more moves/changes the program has to remember, the more it freezes up).
