What's the definition of Hybrid?

I know I know, it's a silly question. It's basically what ever you do digital is printed then you add on to it, I understand that part.
But, you have to pardon me cause I'm kinda new. Well not new but new as in I've been out of this sbing thing for a few years now all the things I've missed that are new to me.

So, okay hybrids... so if I take a photograph and print it on paper then transfer it to muslin is that hybrid or is that altered art?
If I print my journaling instead of handwriting and put that on a traditional SB page is that a hybrid or just a regular trad page?

Thanks!!

Ok let me take a stab at this.... Printing your journaling is a no still traditional because we where doing that befere digital was even born... The muslin.... that is iffy It would depend on what you are using it for....

Basically a hybrid is a bace of digital with traditional acssents added after the fact. But the lo is all built in digi land

hope that helps

It is sooo wide open - its basically combining digital and traditional (in anyway).

Printing it on muslin usually means you are using it in an altered art piece. If you print on muslin and frame it without adding bits and bobs, then that is digital.

I love doing altered art and is the reason I found digital...(further enhancement of my craft ) So when I see digital printed out and folded or adhered to a cardboard book then called hybrid it confuses me. To me that seems just digital. However, when you add ribbons, brads/buttons, sewing or any traditional product & technique to the project in a lets say a minimum 70/30 percentage-that would be hybrid.

To me anyway

You can print on muslin? I had no idea. I do transfers using acrylic medium.

And love the 70/30 percentage... hehehe I can use that a guidance!

instructions...
you'll need: golden medium gel - soft, heavy or extra. I use soft.
1 photo printed on laser, color or black and white
receptor page
1 iron (even the small one or a hand tack one for photo adhesives will work)
spritze bottle of water
good working area.

on the photo, apply a coat of the acrylic medium. Let it dry thorougly and give it several good coats. I do about 5 depending on how much a coating I put on. Also, let it dry thoroughly between coats.
Next apply the medium on the recptor material. So if it's muslin you apply to the muslin. Then quickly put the the photo (acrylic facing down) onto the receptor material. So, it's acrylic to acrylic.
Using the iron, heat the back of the paper and iron it to the receptor material. I do this for 30 seconds to a minute or 2. It just kind depends on how it feels. Sometimes I even set it aside and let it dry some more.
Once done, spritz the paper so it starts to change color where you can see the water is absorbing. it should be soaked. But just absorbing. Then rub the paper off. You can do this small area by area.
Then depending on the paper it might leave a whitish color behind. It can look pretty cool. But, if you don't like it you'll just have to experiment with the paper you use.

Don't mean to link outside but here's an example of a transfer on an SB page. It's the photo above.

Hope that helps and you can follow along, but I'll be here for questions. =)
