I do both together. Love it. I make mini books and add real details, flowers, button, ribbons etc. I also do a lot of printing my journaling on cool tags in pse then print them for my paper pages.
I have so much paper stuff I feel I need to use it! Plus I do enjoy cutting in pasting in real life as well as on the computer.

I have made a few things. I am itching to do more. The only thing holding me back is that I want a printer that gives me a little better quality print - the ink on my last project started to smear and I got discouraged. I have bought a few things to play with ... just haven't done it yet.

Please educate me!

You have it down pretty correct ! Hybrid is simply mixing the two scrapping styles together. It isn't really "new." I mean, when Digital first started there were many people here at SBB that were doing both. But in the past year Hybrid has become the 'newest' trend in the scrapbooking industry... recoginzied, I should say, by manufactureres .... (I mean it has always been there but now it is becoming a recognizable medium for crafters)

That's why I wanted to find out how many people at SBB are really doing both or want to do both... I've done it for a while but hadn't really thought to ask how many OTHER Digi's have been doing it too.

What printer do you use and did you print on specific type of paper?

Great thread Kristi! Good idea!

I also do hybrid. I love the design part in digital. But as some of you mentioned, I miss the hands on crafting, cutting, gluing part. I like to be hands on sometimes.

I actually have done a lot of gifts with hybrid. I have done a couple of birthday parties..and made all the gift bags, hats, invitations, ect. I also have made a couple other projects. I made some bookmarks, magnets and some journals. I am currently working on an altered book for my dad for his birthday.

But I think the main reason I like it is I can do the cropping and gluing and designing part digitally with the photos and keep reworking it until i like it. Then...once I am done I can print it and play with it more with my hands and get that crafty part out of my blood!

As for printing, I have a Epson R1800 and the quality of the prints, even on matte cardstock, is SPECTACULAR. I even just found a great source for Epson ink too...so it is really pretty reasonable to print stuff too.

Now I am starting to expand into more projects. I am going to make mouse pads next with this iron on transfer paper that you can run through the printer. I'll let you all know how that goes!

anyway, I love it. Especially for gifts.
