Singing the Tablet Blues!

Okay, so I got my tablet early for Christmas.....I cannot get used to it! I have switched back to my crappy mouse that died on me, and is not functioning well!

So, tell me this so I don't get frustrated....

What all do you use the pen tool for? Just to draw, etc.? Or, do you use it for all your mousing needs? Do you switch to the mouse that came with it too?

Advice is helpful!

lol....this was me 6 months ago...

and I still haven't totally adjusted to it.

I use mine just for drawing. I've heard that if you want to replace your mouse with it, you just have to force yourself to use it for a few days and then you'll catch on. I got frustrated after a half hour and went back to my trusty old mouse.

When you get used to it for drawing and stuff, though, it is AMAZING. I'm still working on the dodge/burn part (but I was never very good with that with a mouse).

Just keep at it. I feel like it was worth the purchase, but there is an adjustment.

Deb

P.S. I used my tablet to draw my avatar. I can't draw to save my life, but the tablet helped a lot!

BTW, I don't use the mouse that came with the tablet. I have a wireless mouse already and I just stick with that. Did you get the wacom graphire 6x8? That's what I have.

I love my wacom! Now there are two ways to set up your tablet, you can use it like a track pad, or you can use it like a representation of the screen itself - so press on the left and you're on the left of the screen, go to the bottom corner and it's the bottom corner on the screen. So if you're expecting one mode or the other it can get frustrating.

I have my button set to double clicking which is more useful than you would think. I draw, drag and drop, do anything with my wacom when I've got it plugged in - but with a laptop it's a bit awkward unless I'm doing some serious drawing or photo editing - that automatic eraser is awesome.

Wish I could help more but I'm leaving the country in nine hours!

Yes, it's a Wacom Graphire....I went with it until I got used to it and decided if I wanted to go higher later on.

So, there are two ways to set it? I think I'd rather it be more like a track than the represntation of the screen...that's closer to what a real mouse is, right?

I only use mine for drawing or fine photoediting work ..i just cant seem to get the hang of it for all the ordinary move and click functions.
I just got a laptop and now i am struggling with the touch pad on that.

okay, I looked at my property settings and changed the area of tablet....might re-adjust that at a later date after MAKING myself use it! LOL

It's a little easier now. What is wierd is when I need to type something - it's awkward to move the pen out of the way. I'm such a fast mover on the computer...so must get used to it!

Me too!

I too just got a tablet, and I am having the same difficulty.. every day i am using it a bit more and more. But, it is quite the challenge. i was trying to use it for mouse movements and everything but, i just cant see that happening.

I have been using it for just drawing but, it is frustrating because i seem to get nothing accomplished.. so, i am right here in this boat..LOL

Any Wacom users want to share some helpful tips for us newbie tablet users?
