Question Canon i9900 vs. HP DeskJet 9670?

Does anyone have/use an HP DeskJet 9670 printer for digital scrapbooking? I'm trying to decide between that and the Canon i9900. I've seen the comments in other threads about the Canon, so I'm more interested in the pros/cons regarding the HP. I really want to get quality prints, but I'm not sure which way to go. I've heard that the HP is fade resistent for up to 75 years. But I am a little worried about the ink cartridges. I haven't been able to find anything about how long they last. The Canon has separate ink cartridges, but the HP only has three (black, tri-color and photo). Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Canon vs. HP vs. Epson

I hate to add more confusion, but I am also researching purchaing a printer and have found many happy scrappers using the Epson Stylus 1280...you can buy online for $399 with a $100 rebate....not bad for a $500 printer....reviews so far are excellent.....something to think about and I believe they have a 100-year color promise.

Food for thought.

Reviews not as good with Epson

I was originally looking at the Epson 1280, but found some cons that made the HP and Canon my forerunners. On the Epson website, it states that the 1280 only has a 27 year guarantee for water and light resistence (using their ColorLife Photo paper). I've also read (from several different sources) that the Epsons are notorious for problems and the ink cartridges don't last very long.

Thanks for the thought, though!

Now you've got me wondering

I had decided on the i9900 but I didn't know HP had a wide-format. My BIL is a rep for HP, so I sent him an email with q's I had after reading reviews.

From what I have read in the forums here, most people use either Canon or Epson. Maybe someone can shed some light as to why. I would also really like to know if anyone has the HP9670 and what their experience is.

I thought I had the printer thing resolved......oh well.....here we go again.

canon vs hp

I've never had an HP printer, but when I found the wide format at a local store, I ran home to do some research on it. The reviews were not good for the hp. So I opted to wait. I'm still up in the air between the epson & the canon, but am leaning more toward the canon. I've had several epson printers, & while I love the quality, the ink does go fast. (of course, I print ALOT). We have a new Best Buy opening this week, so I'm going to see if they carry the canon, if not, I'll probably order one online. Wish I could be more help, but there are tons of reviews online for every printer imaginable.

please look through my other posts...

Hello,

I know you are more so looking for info on the HP, and in that regard I cannot help you, but if you check out my other posts (by clicking on the circle next to my name) you will see all the posts I have left about the canon i9900. I LOVE MY CANON!! I would definitely purchase it again......unless they came out with the same version, but with cd printing abilities......I think I heard a rumor on this site that Epson might be doing so, but I will not buy another Epson.

HTH.

I have an HP printer (not the same model you're looking at) and while the print quality is good, I don't like the all-in-one color cartridges. Printers that use seperate cartridges for each color may look like they go through ink fast, but my sister has en Epson, and over a year, she spends less on ink even though she may actually use more cartridges. And I hate having to buy a new cartridge every time the red ink runs out, knowing there's still a lot of the other colors of ink left that I can't use. Just my two cents' worth.
