Question Printing on both sides of paper?

Hello all,

Has anyone tried printing on both sides of Epson's 12 X 12 (really 11.6X11.6) matte scrapbooking paper? Especially with a Canon i9900? Epson says it can be done, but I am little bit concerned about colors potentially bleeding through to the other side.

As always,

Thanks for any help!

This probably isn't much help, but my sister prints on both sides of the Epson 12x12 paper, she has an Epson 2200 though.

I have a question for you now, it sounds like you have printed layouts using your i9900 and the Epson 12x12 paper? I'm seriously considering buying an i9900, but I was really curious about using the Epson paper. How is the print quality? Have you had any problems using Epson paper with a Canon printer? I would love any input anyone has. Thanks!

Talking No problems!!!

I use the Epson printer because Canon does not make 12 X 12 paper (I have already sent them an email about that . ) So unless I want to pay extra for 13X 19, I just stick with Epson. I really have to do some price comparisons on 13 X 19 Canon paper to really see how much extra I would be paying.

Anyway, I LOVE MY CANON i9900!! I often find myself staring at the printouts, multiple times during the day, b/c I can't get over the quality of the print.

I am going to cut and paste what I have said about the i9900 in another post. Well worth the $.

P.S. Thanks for letting me know about your sister's good results with double sided printing.

I fell in love with the space of a 12X12 page, but also knew that I wanted to ability to print at home, as I have NO time to run around to places to get the printing done. After doing some research, I found out about wide format ink jet printers. However, I was really hesistent to spend the cash for yet another printer. Finally, I just gave in and initially considered the Epson Stylus 1280. I decided against the Epson b/c I have had Epsons in the past and have found them to be noisy and "ink guzzlers"!! I then looked at reviews on the internet and kept reading over and over again Excellent Reviews on the Cannon i9900, so I purchased it.

I am now SO HAPPY WITH MY CANON i9900!! I think it is worth every cent I spent. The image quality is GREAT!!!!!! Another advantage is it's connectivity: you can directly connect to your camera (I never do this as I always put my photos in iPhoto first), you can connect via USB2 (which of course is backwards compatible with USB1), and BEST OF ALL you can connect via Firewire............VERY QUICK 12X12 print outs!!! Given the multitude of connectivity options, I have been able to connect the printer via USB to my PC and to my Mac via Firewire. Last, but not least: It is SOooooo quiet!! I can do my printing at night and not wake anyone up.

One disadvantage over Epson: Canon does not make 12X12 inkjet scrapbook paper, just Epson, it is not a big deal to buy the paper from Epson, but what it does mean is that the printing software included with the Canon, which allows for borderless printing, only has preset sizes that do not include 12X12 and there is no way to set up your own custom borderless sizes. I have emailed Canon about this issue and for now they have no plans to change the software or produce their own 12X12 paper. (I think I will just keep emailing them/write them letters until they change their mind! ) I have tried to print my own borderless printing via manipulating my Page Setup (I own a Mac. I don't know if there is the equivalent on PC's, because even though I own a PC I do all creative work on my Mac) and Photoshop printing settings, but I have yet been able to produce borderless prints. It has not been much of an issue anyhow as I have been trimming my pages with the Carl RT-200 12 inch trimmer which allows for 11 different interchangable pattern blades.

I would difinitely buy the Cannon i9900 again in a heartbeat!

Thanks for the input!! I think I'm pretty much sold on the i9900. I just really wanted to find out about how it printed on the Epson 12x12 paper. I knew that no one else made that size paper (not yet anyway) and I was really hoping that the Epson paper would work find in the Canon printer. I'm so glad to have found someone that has tried it!! I'm very interested to find out how it does printing on both sides. Please let me know when you try it how it works for you!!

why does everyone concern themselves so much with matching printers and paper..? I've been using digital photo pritners for years and currently do much of my priting on the canon i960. However, I've never used a sheet of canon paper but only use ilford. If you can calibrate your system correctly the first time, you should be able to use 3rd party papers and save a bundle of $$$.. I purchase pro quality Ilford for about .50/sheet.. and for everyday stuff, print beautiful prints on ilford printasia paper that I purchase at BJ's for $14/75sheets.. ($.19 cents a page!). I can get 2 5x7 prints or 2 4x6 + 3 2.5x3.5 per page!

Granted.. this is 8.5 x 11.. but still.. you might want to consider not worrying about matching printers to papers.. the word on the street is it doesn't make much of a difference once you get away from the canon/hp/epson papers.. Good luck!
