Canon all in one for scanning

Ok, I have been w/out a scanner for a few years and would love to get the pics of first child in digital format. Here is my ?, b/c I am sort of cheating. My DH has a business and we need a new printer and fax so we were just going to get an all in one. I was hoping to get something good enough to scan my photos in with too. Has anyone ever bought one of the Canon or possibly Epson all in ones and they do good for saving photos. Also we are limited to Staples b/c we have a large amount of rewards there we are planning to use and the business will pay the small difference.

Thank you so much for any input!! Usually I print my stuff at Costcos so I guess that part doesn't need to be as good as the scanner part.

Well - I am and always have been an Epson fan - and presently have the Epson RX580 all in one - which I really like - and would love - except for the cost of ink - this takes the 6 cartridges - and is very pricey. However, the end results in printing - and scanning are just FABULOUS!!

I was leaning towards a Epson but the only all in one at Staples is a CX9400F which scans up to 1200 x 2400-dpi resolution. I wondered did this make a difference b/c the Canon scans up to 2400 x 4800-dpi or 4800 x 9600 but I do not know if I need that much.

The scanning resolution for both is fine - You might want to check that the second isnt giving an interpolated number rather than a true number. Another thing that makes the difference in scans is Optical Density and dynamic range. For good scanning Optical density should be no less than 3.0. Bit depth should be a minimum 24 - 30 or 36 is preferred.
HTH you narrow it down

Here is the one I am leaning towards:

but I can not find anything about Optical Density and dynamic range, of course I could be overlooking it too.

I really like the duplexing b/c with my DH's business we do a lot of two sided printing.

I could go with this HP: http://www.staples.com/sbd/img/rebates/pdfs/703473.pdf but I had heard that Canon and Epson were better and no Epsons are available here that do what I want. This one would give me some $ left over...hehe

I would go with either a Canon or an Epson and steer clear of HP. Some people like them, but my mom has had 2 go bad on her. I have a canon printer that I LOVE and I love the whole 5 ink tank thing. The one you are looking at looks like a nice one.

I do also have a Epson scanner that has been with me for quite a long time and has served me well.

I have an HP Photosmsart 7750 - I think and I have had it for almost five years and it works great and I like the output of my pics. I am having the hardest time deciding which to go with. I want the scanner to be the best part...hehe I am really try not to let $ to be the deciding factor but that is they way it usually happens for me.
