Computer ?

Ok all you computer whiz-es I am getting ready to send my old computer off for parts... what do I need to do to it before i send it off. I am currently working on transferring files and deleting them as i go so I know what is gone and what i still need to take ... but anything else i should do?

Once you have everything you need, reformat the HD so that you know for sure there is nothing on it. You may also want to keep the HD if it is the right style for the new computer, as you can never have too many HDs (or at least I can't).

My background is in Human Resources and we always wiped the drive to DOD (Dept of Defense) standards. Seeing as I have business info and my family info on this I would wipe it that way too. I guess I worry about identity theft or someone getting my kids info.

Just asked DH what you should do. Send me a PM when you get to the stage where you want to wipe it clean, and I'll send you some links so you can wipe it to military specs. You'll need to have a blank disk or blank CD ready to do this procedure too.

Don't forget to backup your fonts, favorites and email addys. Along with any program (psp, ps) presets you may have.

Oh I did not think about the fonts I just figured that i would have to find them again... how to I save them?
