I already have a EHD and use that to keep most of my scrapbooking supplies + backups on DVD's, my main concern is that the C drive is almost to capacity and I don't even have that many programs on this laptop. The version of XP that is on it has media centre could this take more room? My PC has many more programs & stuff on it & it only has a 40gb HDD. Thanks for your replies guys!!!

A new laptop with a 120GB drive cannot be close to full.. XP only takes up around 40GB MAX... programs such as photoshop take up about 1GB... you should have tons of room left.

I would suggest you download Treesize from here: http://www.jam-software.com/freeware/index.shtml it is a free version of their larger program which is fantastic. It will show you every folder on your computer (across multiple drives) and tell you how much space each is taking up.

Run it and then let me know which folders are what size... you can attach a screenshot which would be helpful too. Once you find the largest folder... expand that so I can see the offending subfolders/files.

It could be your pagefile is setup to be huge or something... Thx!

you are welcome.. I use the pro version all the time but the free version is just as nice!

In case anyone wants another utility I just can't do without.. check out directory Opus... http://nudel.dopus.com/opus9/... it is an amazing File Explorer replacer that makes windows explorer look amazingly thin.. It incorporates an FTP utility and the ability to have multiple views and tabs all within one window. I typically have my C drive, USB drives and EHD all open in one pane (multiple tabs) and then have my 2 FTP sites open in a second pane with multiple tabs.

Simply amazing.. not free thought but worth the price. Verison 9 is coming soon and it appears to be even better.

I went about moving data files to the D drive and deleting other things to try and reduce clutter. Got it down some but will try what you said when I'm not working. It's Monday morning here so it's of to work I go. Thanks for taking the trouble to reply.
