Dell Laptop error - NMI Memory Parity/ Memory Error

Hey...anyone have this problem ever?

I have a Dell Inspirion 1505 and I am having this random blue screen error...It is absolutely not predictable, and I can not make it happen...it just does every once in a while.

It goes to a blue screen that says:

Call your hardware vendor

NMI Memory Parity/ Memory Error

Then I have to turn the computer off and back on...then it may work for 7 days or 7 minutes...before I get the error again.

They have replaced the memory and the motherboard...then finally gave me a brand new laptop..and I am still getting the same error with the new laptop...it is not with any particular program...it has done it to me in PSE as well as when I am just on the internet...or just playing around doing nothing in particular with my computer.

Anyway, just thought I would throw it out there and see if anyone had any ideas...or had the problem before! Thanks!

Silly question... what do you have the laptop sitting on when this happens?

I did a quick search on google for you and of course it could be any number of things... but did find find this one interesting and might be worth a shot!

Don't forget if you decide to go this route that reformatting a computer/harddrive means everything on it will be wiped out - INCLUDING ALL FILES AND INSTALLED PROGRAMS so you will need to back up all your important files and will need to reinstall all programs again like a brand new computer. YOU MUST ALSO be sure you have the Windows disk IN YOUR HAND before even considering this option. If you don't have it (you should since Dell includes it with their computers) DON'T TRY TO REFORMAT...

If you have the operating system CD from Dell:

BE SURE YOU ALSO HAVE ANY PRODUCT KEYS NECESSARY!!!!

OK...Arti...everywhere...it has happened sitting on my lap...sitting on my glass kitchen table...sitting on a wooden TV table...My hubby bought me a lap thing to sit it on...so it would get air circulation...and with this new computer.. it is still happening....everywhere...

We origianlly thought it was maybe a heat issue...but yesterday it happened after being on for like 3 minutes...so not a heat thing! So frustrating.

Amy,

Thanks...I saw that too...I have searched every google and tech and Dell forum I could find. My hubby is actually a computer guy...so he has looked into it to. I just figured with all the tech stuff here that we run into...maybe someone would have an idea that I haven't run into.
We reinstalled windows on the last computer...that is why they sent us a new computer...because we did reinstall on the last one and changed the memory and the motherboard to no avail!

Thanks though for your input... I appreciate all the info I can get!

My DH does the Dell service calls here (which is why I asked what seemed to be a silly question). At this point, your best bet is to contact Dell and keep trying to get them to fix the problem.

Hmm.. same error on 2 different laptops.. sounds like Dell is using some sub-par parts again. It could be voltage problem causing a short.. it could be a problem with the memory.. but 2 different machines with the same issue is not good.

I would ask Dell to give you another replacement but in a different model.. good luck!

I have actually been having the same problem with the same model of dell computer. I have my computer sitting on my wood coffee table when it happens and it is usuallyhappens when I run my PSP. I have called dell about it but everytime it happens I can't seem to get the help that I need (people their hardly speak english) I have complained about it but have yet to get any help. I have only owned the computer for 2 months and has happened I think 2 or 3 times. I am not sure what to tell you other than you are not the only one that is getting these messages. I did take a picture of the error message once... just to have it handy when I called dell. Not sure if anyone can help with it but you never know.
