I got my new computer with XP Pro since I did not want Vista.
But with that said, there is one designer who has the beta version.
Hopefully she will see this thread and have some real info for you.

I'm kinda thinking about upgrading but I am also wondering about some of my software not working with it.
Let us know how you like it when you get your new pc.

Not sure who you mean Arti.

However I Have had it pretty much since the beta came out It has a few different features to XP and it does take a little to get used to some of the features which are kewl in my honest oppinion.

Being a beta version it does have some compatabliity issues which I assume would be fixed in the "realease" version.
Scanner software was non existant
Java related chats I can't get into - honestly I have not looked into fixing these lately cause I can't be bothered. (SBB uses flash chat hehe)

There are many features I love!

My suggestion go to google do a search on reviews on vista and read what people are saying and look at screen shots - my opinion may vary from yours iykwim

Good luck and I don't think you can go wrong buying from dell or using Vista

Personally, I would hold off for a bit. But, rest assured that for the majority of the work you might do.. it will work just fine and you won't notice any problems.

Many of the new PC's are shipping with XP installed adn offering a free upgrade to Vista down the road.. that's the approach I would take and try to get them to honor the VISTA upgrade a bit later on... Once some of the kinks are worked out a bit more, I'd upgrade.

There have been numerous reports of many current products that are not working 100% in Vista... might not effect you if you don't play many Dx9 games or run these appls...

Positive thing is.. if you buy the new PC with Vista and something goes really bad.. you can always just throw a copy of XP on it and go forward from there.. just be sure they give you a DVD with Vista on it.. Dell is notorious for not shipping any software DVD's ... not good!!!!! Good Luck!

I was waiting up last night to see if you would come online to answer this. Remembered you had posted that you had Vista, so was hoping you would see this post. Now I will go and drink a pot of coffee so I can try to wake up

I agree with Pesto. All new software has some issues when it first comes out. Wait awhile, if you can, and give all those "early adopter" types the chance to find all the problems and get them fixed. There will be patches coming out (there always are) and after they've had time to get a few of those done, then you can probably download with no problems.
