Help..printer won't print certain fonts

Can anybody help me with why my canon pixma printer has trouble printing the more ornate and flowing script fonts? Scriptina and sloop script to name just a few seem to end up with the g,l,b,d,or,y transposed when printed. If I was to type "Fluffy"and then print it it would look something like Fu f f y l and often with some letters printed ontop of others.I have checked that it is a True Type font compatible with my printer and my bro-in-law who works for Canon can't seem to give me any answers.

I think that a long time ago, I had difficulty with this (it was wih a CK script font, though). I discovered that I needed to be printing at a font size that was a "regular" font size. For example, 14 point rather than 11 point. I think it needed to be divisible by 2 in order to show up. Often I'll just grab the handles and enlarge my font, which can result in some wacky font sizes. If I just highlight and change to a number divisble by 2, it printed OK.

Another way to get around it is to flatten the text for printing so the text becomes an image rather than text

The same goes for printing from PDF files. Make sure the fonts are embedded.
