Problems printing in Elements 2

Hi There,
I am a newbie to all this. I am using Adobe Photoshop Elements 2. My printer is an Epson 1280. My photos look wonderful on the screen, but when I try to print them from Elements they loose all the detail and look rather fuzzy. I can print them from other programs and they look just fine. Is there some setting in Elements that needs changed to make it work with an Epson printer? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Wish I could help! I've just start using PSE3 and while I don't have the fuzzy problem, everything prints MUCH lighter than it does from my other programs when I use the same printer settings. I have an Epson, too. Maybe someone else can shed some light!!

What is the resolution of your page in PSE (Edit-Resize Image)? The default in PSE is 72, which looks fine on the screen but when you print it looks horrible (print quality is 300 usually some do 200). So since you are a newbie, I thought this may be the problem (I did my first few pages this way) and unfortunately there is no way to increase the resolution when you start out low (just have to start over).

If this isn't the problem then I wonder if you are using the highest quality printer setting? The prints that I've done in PSE have looked great so I know it can work. If this doesn't help let us know and maybe someone else can come up with another hint.

Printer problems

Thanks for your suggestions. I checked the DPI and it's at 200. My photos print out using Film Factory, just perfect. Look as clear as they do on the screen, but when I print them from Elements, they get fuzzy. I did contact Epson and they suggested deleting my current printer driver and downloading an updated driver. I will give that a try. I'll let you know if it works. Thanks again!

Lol... just like Epson. It most likely will not be a driver issue if you can print just fine from Film Factory. You can check the printer settings when you print just in case the driver is overriding the software.. be sure the printer is set to print photo quality.. and check to be sure the paper source is correct.

The fuzzy thing is usually a DPI issue.. but in most cases, this would result in pixellated photos.. not necessarily fuzzy photos. I would say that most likely the photos are not being given a resolution about 72dpi... try resampling them up to 300dpi and give it a try. Good luck!
