12" PRINTER...
MEMBER QUESTION:
Angie or anyone else. My DH just told me he is going to get me a photo printer for my layouts for Mother's Day. Does anyone have any recommendations for a 12" printer.
MEMBER ANSWERS:
i just got the canon i9900.. luv it... does 13x19... but then you cant print a 12x12, plus smaller sizes on the same page and cut it out
MEMBER ANSWERS:
I have the EPSON 1280, Scrappy. I really like it. BUT I have heard such wonderful things about the newest Canon, that I kind of wish I had that one.
MEMBER ANSWERS:
I have the Epson 1280 also and love it
MEMBER ANSWERS:
I have an HP it does 13 x 19 too and I can't figure out how to do 12x12
ANGIE ANSWERS:
for 12x12 I like the Epson 1280, 2200, or the new R-series (I can't remember the model number). I plan to buy one this year, and I'm going to get the Epson 1280

On a related note, someone asked about what paper to print on. I personally use Epson Matte Heavyweight for most of my projects. If I want to really ensure archival-ness, I use Epson PremierArt Matte Photo Paper. (It's supposed to last 200 years!)
And the R-series printer I mentioned before is the R1800, just premiered at CHA this year in February:

I have owned the Epson 1280 since June of 2001 and I absolutely love it!!! The print outs of 12 x 12's that I have done on the matte Epson SB paper are wonderful, in fact, that's what convinced me to start digital scrapbooking! I also own the Epson R200 (prints on CDs) and the Epson 740 (old as the hill and still prints great photos!). Also, my scanner is an Epson 2450. I guess you could say that I am "an Epson woman"!!!

I have the HP 9650 and I love it
I have the Hp 9650 and I love it. It is kinda noisy though. I researched the Epson and the HP and since they both got the same kind of reviews, I bought the HP..just because my regular printer is an HP and I am happy with it.

Epson all the way!
I have the Epson 1280 and absolutely love it. Its the printer used in the computer lab at our local community college. Knowing that the printers there run 24/7 without a hitch convinced me. I also use the Epson R300 for 8.5 x 11 and I own an Epson scanner. I guess you could say I'm a fan!

how much are the ink cartridges?
So for those of you with the Epson 1280, how much are the cartridges and how often do they need to be replaced? I know that is a difficult question to answer, but I have an Epson Photo Stylus 825 and have not been happy with it. I feel like I am always needing a new ink cartridge and it takes two that cost about $20 each. I have had lots of banding, crazy color tinting and just overall undependable quality with this one. I have been very frustrated because one day it will print great and the next it is lousy. I have tried every setting and preference available in the printer and the computer and can't figure it out. Thanks for your help. Kelley

When I was using the 1280 as an instructor, it wasn't very often -- like maybe once a month? And that was with pretty heavy, edge-to-edge use. For ink cartridges, check out atlex.com. Great prices and fast shipping. That's where I go for my 820 replacements.
