I have spent a total of 4 hours on the phone with Epson Tech Support, and I still not have been able to resolve my issue (my experience with dealing with the 1st tier of support would be hilarious were it not so completely frustrating).

It has now come to the support people suggesting that I attach the printer to another computer to see if that works If that doesn't work, they are going to try shipping me another printer.

Someone somewhere in the world of Epson made this work, all of their literature says that this printer can print 12x12 borderless, but darned if they explained it to anyone else!

Ugh!

I can and can't believe it!!!!! I too have just gave up and am making my prints with white borders. It is ridiculous. I have searched everywhere, googled it, etc. I can't find an answer!

It does work... so.. it must be an issue with how the PC and printer are setup. I'm sure you've done this but bear with me:

1) Are you sure you are using the most updated print driver available? If you just used the one from the CD that came with the printer, it is probably out of date. So, you will want to grab an updated driver from the Epson Driver website. Download the driver and install the file then reboot the PC (do all this with the printer turned off).

2) Once you have the new driver installed and the PC rebooted... open up the driver using the properties/advanced button the printer page and ensure all the settings for borderless printing is setup correctly.

Try printing a 12x12 image using a variety of software packages... even by using the Epson software that came with the printer.. do any of the prints come out borderless?

Good luck and let us know how you make out!

I've printed hundreds of 12x12 borderless layouts on the R1800 from PSE with no problems - maybe I can help? When you go to print, the first thing you see is the Print Preview from PS. Make sure your layout is actually sized to 12x12, and the page is scaled to 100%. Then click on the "Print" button at the bottom of the window. You may get a "Print Clipping Warning". Do NOT click on "Scale to Fit Media" - just click ok. Now the Print window will come up. Click on Properties. Choose Photo (we've tried photo and best photo - best photo takes about 45 minutes to print vs. about 2 minutes for photo, and I can't notice much of a difference at all). Under "Paper Options" you should have the following: Source: Sheet; Type: Enhanced Matte (assuming you are using the Matte Scrapbook photo paper from Epson); Size: 12x12. Then click on the borderless box (click ok when the warning comes up). Now click on the next tab at the top - Page Layout. Change the expansion from Max to either Mid, or the halfway mark (borderless will scale up your layout to ensure that you print all the way to the edges, if you leave it on max, you may cut off some of the detail around the edges of your layout - I only notice this if I have "inking" around the edges, or something similar). Now click OK and OK again.

Hopefully this helps!! It is a fabulous printer! Please let me know if it's not working, and I can send you some print screens so you can see exactly what it should look like.

ebar - just noticed that you said your paper was actually 11.6x11.6 - that is Epson's old scrapbook paper. The newer packages are red, and are true 12x12. You can still use the 11.6 paper but you will need to set up a custom size in the printer driver. Click on Properties. Make sure Borderless is not checked. Under Size - go to User Defined, and name it Scrapbook or 11.6x11.6 or something similar. Then put in 1160 for width and height. Click Save and then OK.

As far as I know, you can't do borderless 11.6x11.6.

The good news is that older paper has a very cool software called panorama maker in it - it's awesome if you have any paper-scrapped pages that you want to scan and stitch - works way better than PSE "photo-merge" feature. If you're not interested in the software, you could probably even unload it on ebay.
