Hi, you might also want to look at www.mpix.com
Althought, they are not 1 hour, they ship to your door very fast! I've had some of my pictures come the next day. But, most of all, the pics always look fantastic at great prices. Check it out.

I also just had a problem myself with ofoto.com. I uploaded a layout that I did to have enlarged to a photoposter. It was a layout with one of my sons baby pictures along with some of anna aspens wording and a background from her Miracle CD. They sent me an email back saying that they could not print it because of copywrite issues. HUH??? I emailed them back and asked them what in the world were they talking about! I don't know if it was the photo or Annas amazing word art!!!!!! I haven't recieved a response yet.
I never even once thought about them not printing it! *sigh*!!!!!!!!!!!
There is nothing wrong with having that printed is it.... Even tho I used some of Annas word art and BG and my OWN picture that "I" took?????? I make a lot of my own digital art....am I going to run into this problem everytime I go to have a layout printed professionaly????????????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????
I am really MAD about it!

Ok on the try walgreens thing. I asked them about printing some photos of my dh grandmother as a child. She was 97 at the time ( this was about a year and a halve ago) and the photo was taken when she was 5....do the math.... THE PHOTOGRAPHAR IS NOT LIVING. I know this for a fact the person lived next door to her and she went to his funeral. And the studio had been closed for 40 years. They told me that copyrights last FOREVER I dont think so LOL But they do have a paper saying that you will take the fall if any charges for copyright are brought forward.

As far as having things printed localy I think it is a matter of geting to know the people. There are Oh my goodness. With the ones they have built in the last year proably 7 walmarts with in a 10-15 min drive from my house ...But i will not go to all of them . Each one has its own ways with its own managers. And the aditude of the people who work there are so dif. I lucked out and the one that is within walking distance from my house is great. Good people and sadly they are starting to remeber me LOL.

Good luck I hope you find somthing that works for you.

Wow, this is amazing, isn't it? It's too bad there are people out there who really do take advantage of the system and try to save money by ordering reprints of professional photos through drugstores and such. It certainly makes it a not-so-nice situation for the rest of us who are honestly presenting our own work. Major bummer.

Thanks to everyone who's shared their suggestions and experiences. I'll actually be trying out both MPIX and WHCC and am excited to see what I receive back. (After all your positive comments about both companies, I'm sure they'll both be winners.)

Thanks again!

Kristie: How funny you mentioned this! I just submitted an 8x10 photo with a copyright symbol to online Costco to test this. I will let you know ... Also, I have taken photos of my family with a backdrop and I didn't have problems printing them out at Costco. Must not have been professional enough looking! All it was a pale blue sheet.

Zee: I'm sorry to hear your frustration! I wish you luck at mpix and whcc.

Well, it's not like you have to be a professional photographer to hold copyright on an image. Technically, whoever takes any photo would have a copyright on it, whether they got paid for it or not, right? Theoretically, I should get permission from my dad to reprint pictures he took of me as a kid -- but I doubt Wal-Mart would ever ask for a release to print a family snapshot. Their "system" for determining who holds the copyright to what is so flawed... Hmmm, another reason to print everything at home.

I did not have any problems picking up my photos. I took a release form with me but didn't have to use it. It was probably because I included my name with my copyright symbol and the name matches my order form and Costco card.
