Help on 12 X 12 printers

OK Ladies! Need a little help on this one....I've been umming and arrrhing over whether or not to get a large format printer for over year now and I've read every single thread out there, to the point I'm totally confused. I guess at the end of the day it's Epson or Canon? But I need some help deciding? Also as an off-shoot - What albums are you all using and do you use page protectors. The only thing I'm sure of at this point is that I want to print 12X12. The humidity in Japan and lack of A/C meant I couldn't print but now I'm back stateside I'm itching to get some of my stuff printed. Thanks in anticipation -

Anna

Anna, read the same threads and came to the same conclusion. I have no patience so I bought the Canon. But the word on the street is that the next Epson is due any moment and it will be truly wonderful. Truly, at the end of the day I went eeny meeny miny mo.

P.S. So far, my Canon is a dream. An absolute dream.

Well I haven't used a Canon printer for about 10-15 years so I can't really comment on them ! I have two Epson photo printers (Stylus Color 680 and Sylus C42 Plus). I've never had any problems with either of them. I also have a new Epson scanner which is fantastic !! If it were me I'd go with the new Epson that's coming out.

Just my 2 cents !

Canon Printer

I recently purchased the Canon i9900 and I just can't say enough about it. This printer is absolutely awesome. The main reason that I decided to purchase the Canon over the Epson is the ink situation. If you go to Amazon.com (one out of many places with customer reviews)and read the reviews on the two printers, you will quickly come to see that the Epson requires a tremendous amount of ink to function properly. One review even stated that although the pictures on the Epson are gorgeous, the machine uses ink like drinking Cool-Aid. One of the things that I like the most about the Canon is the amount of ink that it DOESN'T use, and still produces stunning photos. I was absolutely stunned by how many 13 X 19 pictures I was able to print before the ink levels even moved. I know that sounds too good to be true- but it is. It has been a VERY long time since I have been as happy with a purchase as I am with this printer. I just HAD to be able to print out my 12 X 12 LO's and I am SOOOOO HAPPY that I bought the Canon to print them out with. Another review I read stated that having the Canon printer is like having your own printing lab, and I couldn't agree more. The one downside to this printer is its size. If you open it up with all of its slideouts, it takes up more room than an economy vehicle. It's huge! It kind of adds new meaning to the term "desk top printing". I don't use any of the extentions (which are all optional). I love this printer!!!

I have the Epson 2200 and I also love it. There are ICC profiles now for this printer for each specialty paper it uses and it has roll capacity as well as sheet.
