Printer help

I have made some elements and want to print them out to be used "traditionally". However, when I print them out, the fonts are jagged and the color is off. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks!

Faithfully,

Dawn

more info please

we'll need to know some more specifics - what application did you use to create your elements? What ppi/dpi setting did you use 72? 200? 300? what type of printer are you printing to and what capabilities does it have?? Once we know a little more, we might be able to help you out!

I used photo impact pro. I may have originally created them in 72, but saved them in 600 as a jpg. Does this help? When I try to start at a higher dpi, it is soo huge. I have a hp photosmart 7260 printer. I've tried printing on glossy and plain. Thanks for your help!

I'm not familiar with Photo Impact Pro, but I doubt you can res up a 72 to 600 dpi and gain the resolution you need for printing.

You could do the following test:

create a smaller page at 200 or 300 dpi and create one of the elements (or portion of) that you created at 72 dpi. Print this and compare to the ones created at 72 dpi and res'd up to 600 and see how they compare.

As for the color, you will need to follow the guidelines that come with your printer for calibrating your monitor with your printer.

Hope this helps and isn't to frustrating!!! Hang in there!
