Angry Epson 2200 help

I have been so frustrated with my 2200 lately. We changed our printer cartridges recently and the printer hasn't been the same. When we print color photos it prints them green. It is almost as if there is a color missing. But I know that is not the problem.

I have emailed epson but thought I would try you guys out.

Any ideas?

Have you tried cleaning the print heads? Mine did it once when it all came out pink! I got so frustrated I was about to chuck it out the window, and then my DH cleaned the print heads and poof it was like new again! Hope that helps!

I am at the same point. Ready to go to ebay with it and get a canon...We haven't tried the printheads because we did some of the diagnostic stuff and it didn't indicate the heads were dirty. That could be the problem though because we really haven't had the time to use it as much as it really requires.

Another question...The reason I got this printer was because it is wide. I cannot get it to print text consistently. Sometimes there are lines through it. I have resorted to using my old HP and cutting my paper before I print on it like the old days. Anyone experience that problem?

I have always been an Epson fan, and what you are describing certainly sounds like the print heads are the culprit. I do know that I sometimes have to do the clean utility more than once or even twice in a row to get back to normal. It sucks through the ink, but... Hope something works for you soon.

I have had an Epson 2200 for a year now and have had no problems. It sounds like not all your ink cartridges are working and one or more are probably clogged. Any time you have not used the printer for more than a few weeks you will need to run the Head Cleaning utility. Usually you have to do this multiple times (2-4x) and check the nozzle pattern on some plain white paper after each cleaning pass. If you have not used your printer in months that could also be a problem. You should run the Print Head Alignment utility.

I always use Epson paper and Epson inks. The printer is too expensive an investment to mess around with other brands. Check the date stamp on the bottom of the box when buying ink cartridges to make sure you get fresh ones. It is important to always match the paper selection in the print dialog box (Type/Media Type) to the paper you are using. Selecting "Quality" rather than "Speed" in the print dialog box should also help.

Good Luck.

Because Epson uses pigment based ink, you have to use paper that also uses pigment based ink. That's why photos printed with and Epson on HP paper don't look good.

Also, if you're using Photoshop, it could be a problem between PS and the printer. I went through this. Look on page 56 of your Epson manual to fix the problem.

As everyone else said, it could be the print heads, so try that first.

Check the printer profile

I've found that my prints come out green if I'm not using the right printer profile.

If you're using Photoshop, go to Print with Preview and look at the Print Profil. You should use the profile that matches the paper you're using. When you print, click on the Properties button in the Epson dialog and click Advanced. Click on ICM and then No Color Adjustment.

The problem you're describing with lines through text definitely sounds like a print head cleaning problem. I've been using my 2200 almost every day for a year now, and I've had no problems.

Hope this helps!
