I'm looking at purchasing a laptop. Its going to be used for surfing the net, digital scrapping and forums. Our current PC will be used for home business accts, mapping programs.

I will need heaps of space for digital scrapping, but apart from that I don't know much about what I need. Also after one that has a DVD & CD reader/writer.

Suggestions please, what have you got.

I don't have much space on my harddrive of my laptop... as it is older... I went with a refurbished dell when I got it 4 years ago. It is still serving me well! And I couldn't beat the price....(I also already had all the software, so that wasn't needed for the laptop to come with anything other than an operating system) For my harddrive space, I have an external drive that I connect to over my wireless network (and all other PC's can connect to it as well) and I can connect to it direct also if I want to when I am on the road. I have 160 G on it and would be lost without it. But, in terms of your laptop, HD space is pretty cheap nowadays, get as much as you can.... I would get as much RAM on it as possible though!

I love my Dell laptop. I have a 60 G hard drive and when needed, I will buy an external one. I'm okay right now though. I have 768 in RAM and everything runs fine for now. I plan to eventually upgrade to a full gig. I wasn't scrapping when I bought my laptop but now that I'm am, I would go with at least 80 for the hard drive. You can always buy an external one if needed. As I've stated before, you can never have too much memory. Anyway, buy the best you can afford because you cannot upgrade laptops the way you can desk tops. You can buy external hard drives and you can upgrade memory but that's about it. HTH
