) During the communism years (read: my childhood) I was an exemplary pioneer: good marks at school, a lot of marching (I used to be the "convoy" for the flag carrier). Time passed, communism failed, the changes arrived, we all became millionaires, and had to have a special permit on us to buy a loaf for a million, all of a sudden the "Western influence" arrived, heavy metal, porn, action thrillers (things I don't think I would have missed not knowing). And then violence, game shows, star gossip, sex tutorials in the teenage magazines arrived promptly, drugs sold in the boys' toilets at school, vodka broken bottles and syringes in the playparks, even combined with the freedom of speech (Can you guess what everybody has to say about it?!) - doesn't make for a safe place to bring up kids. Gosh it will be years before I will want to bring mine back there.

Sad story hey, I'll try to think of the bright things later.
