DigiChick

Ok I have been faithfully going to thedigichick site this last week to download the pieces for the count down kit and today BAM!!!!! she has pulled her whole site....something about not wanting to be a commercial designer any longer. Does anyone know what is going on? I had received money for my birthday and planned to purchase a cd (if my hubby hasnt already). Not to mention that the kit was 2 days away from being complete. I have to say the posting on her site sounds like she is upset and angry, for me as one I find this very unprofessional to just up and walk away leaving customers and potentional customers in the dust.

Just my humble opinion of course i dont know all the circumstances

Robin

Some people really enjoy drama. Of course, when this gets boring we can always watch CSI.

Seriously, knowing Holly the way I do, I am sure that she will "bounce right back" with some new project.

I hate to say this, but I do agree

I don't know all of her reasons, so I am NOT judging her decision, as much as her timing. I think it was very unprofessional. If you start to give away a free kit, in order to inspire sales, then you must finish what you start. However, this is my philosophy about LIFE, not just directed at her. Sad to here of it.

Also, as purely a person who scraps as a hobby, not a designer, not even close, I am somewhat dismayed by the overall tone of the above linked to thread. I have not read the entire thread (sorry, have to leave soon for work) but I will, so I apology if it does get to one of my concerns. If this site is only going to end up being made of posts where we have to design our own designed elements, than I won't be able to post anymore. Paper scrappers use bought kits, elements, etc.. AGAIN, maybe this is addressed further in the link. I really like seeing people post stuff with kits, especially kits that I also own and have used, because that is how I learn to be more creative.....as in saying, "Wow, I didn't think of using things that way."

I really do love this site and the exchanges with like-minded people from so far away.

As for Holly, I really do hope that if she does not change her final decision, I hope she decides to change the transition. It would have been far better to to have finished the free kit and then offer sales of her new CD for a few weeks and then stop sales after an ANNOUNCED, PLANNED time period. Her customers would greatly appreciate it.

MAN- I am probably going to be BASHED for this but oh well, one should stand up for a friend and I DO count Holly as one of mine...

The things that Holly has went through would make people cry. The emails she received, the hateful comments, and the sly remarks. As a PROUD member of the digichick team I was amazed by some of what she shared. I understand that people have their opinions, and they are FREE to do so, but why do they point out an individual and leave them to hang?

There are so many designers out there that I KNOW have the same belief's that Holly shared, but will never say anything at all for fear of the reprecussion that will follow.

Holly's decision is in fact her own. It is HER time, HER money, and HER heart that has been crushed by this. I have know Holly since MMD- which was a blast to be a part of, Holly was so awesome with her sharing of digital elements and such and had SOOOO many people, some if not most of them posting here, ADVISE her to go commercial where they just KNEW people would buy them up... So she took a chance and followed a dream, what else would YOU do?

No one told her that the digital world would be so cut throat!

I love SBB and the members, but I caution you to hold judgement unitl you know BOTH sides of the story, and I also know that Holly is VERY compassionate if you show her the same...

Sorry to be on my soap box but ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!

You know what - you all can be pissed all you want, or talk trash - but the truth of the matter is you'll never know because you have CLOSED minds and CLOSED hearts. You CHOOSE to assume....and well, we know what the first three letters of that word make out of someone who does that. So what if you didn't get to FINISH getting a kit that was FREE! (HELLO - does that word make any sense to you?).

I am just sorry to hear about this, because Holly has always been one of my favorite designers! Not that I've had much $$ to spend, so I'm always lining up for freebies. But, I hope she'll see this and know that another person loves her work!
