New, where to start?

I am just getting started in digital scrapbooking. I have a lot of questions but not even sure what to ask (if that makes sense?).

Where should I start?
What program(s) should I use?

Any other tips?

Thanks!

Well you found your way here and that's a good starting point! I just started a few months ago and I remember feeling like you do right now!!

I read for weeks before I got the vaguest hint of what I was doing!

Which programs do you have? There are so many of them. I use PSP9 because its cheaper, but a lot of bang for the buck!
Look through the tutorial link above for help, and just ask questions everyone is so helpful here.

A bit of advice from experience...Keep track of anything you download
Elements
Papers
********...everything and keep it a specific folders for those things...I didn't in the beginning and it didn't take long for it to spill over everywhere on my computer!
I started with one folder Scrapbooking and then added sub-folders for ALL the other things..(and trust me they will come)! ;o) There are truckloads of freebies for download on the internet for DSBooking!

A image browser is nice, I use Picasa for viewing the images/photo's on my computer!

Most of all have fun and hang on for a wild ride...as Taraann said this is very addicting!

wlandrum-
I use Photoshop Elements 3 and it includes a image browser and you can "tag" your photos and elements so that you can search for key words (brown, antique, etc) which is very nice because you can truely get a TON of free stuff from here an other sites.

I started by using someone's background paper, a few of my photos and then someone else's embellishments, a title and some journalling. Yes your layouts at first will not look as fantastic as what you see here, but if you save them in the PSE format you can always change them later as you get more practice. And that is the key, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. Which may drive you nuts because you want to get some layouts done, but it will pay of in the long run and you will get a ton done!
