Question How do you organize your kits, etc...help!

After having accumulated a number of elements, papers, kits, etc over the past couple of months, I'm about to go crazy with all the folders I have!!!! I have a main scrapbooking folder, with subfolders for alphas, backgrounds, charms, etc. It's getting to be too much though...I need some suggestions for a better system, HELP!!
TIA!

There's an entire thread in the "How to..." section devoted to the subject of organization. Possibly you'll find your answer there. *S*

maybe this will help..............

I set up a folder in "My Documents" that is named "Scrapbooking & Craft Stuff" and within that folder, I have a folder that is named "Scrapbook Bytes Goodies" and then when I get ready to install kits, I set up a folder with the name of the kit, along with the name of the person that created that kit. So...........it would be like this: My Documents/Scrapbooking & Craft Stuff/Scrapbook Bytes Goodies/Sage & Lavendar Kit - Dena Cooper (for example). When I have accumulated quite a bit of kits, then I burn them to a CD so that I can make room on my hard drive and then I start all over again!

I hope this helps, Pam

You could try the picasa download. It's free and allows you to assign keywords to every element, which then doing a search you can find exactly what you need. There are some threads in the how to section on picasa.

Doesn't picassa not let you view PNG files though? I was thinking I had heard that from someone - I think that would make it difficult to use since many many elements are in that file form. Anyone know?

I have visions of someday organizing mine with photoshop album but I just don't know, I think I have too many to take on such a big endeavor!

Emmy,

No Picasa does view pngs just fine, you just have to set it up to do so. I will have to look it up how to do it, but it was like 2 clicks.

Also I have not assigned keywords to any of my stuff in Picasa, it is able to pull stuff up for me by file name.

So I just enter PINK or VALENTINE or HUNNIBUNNI and it pulls stuff up for me.

I just love Picasa!

you can group it by name of kit(alphabetically) or you can do it by artist, or by groups of colors. (ex: pinks/reds ordark primarys/popcile primarys and then pastels! this should help w/ your orginization. as far as folders goes, make a few main folders and save your kits into those folders depending on what type of kit they are or what colors the kit has in it! I hope this helps!!!!
