Fading border Pictures and Photos

Hello "talentuous scappers",

The french newbie I am is always wondering
how all of you do the effects of fading(or bluring, sometimes this word is also used,
I don't know the difference) on your LO.
For example in the LOs "Claire's smile" and "For Becki.." of Laurie this week,
but in so many others the borders(edges) of the photo(Claire, Becki) seem to vanish or merge with the background of the LO.
Do you add overlay, do you brush the photo, etc... ???
Well I hope you'll understand what I am trying to explain
and thanks to all of you to share your work.
Michel.

I'm not sure what program you are using, but in DIP9, you highlight the element/picture you want to "fade" and go under Effects>Edges>Soft and adjust the slider. Alternatively, you can go under Effects>Transparency>Gradual and choose from a variety of gradients.

Michel, it may be a mask applied to the photo. See if you can look up 'mask' for your program.

Michel, ce peut être un masque appliqué à la photo. Voyez si vous pouvez rechercher 'mask' pour votre programme.

Hi-
Here's a layout of mine
is that what you mean?

this is what I do
fading or blending photos into a page
message #5 describes the technique, but you will need to adjust the amount of feather depending on the size of the photo

hope that helps!
