3day old digiscrapper!

Hello everyone - I am only a 3day old digiscrapper and use photoshop7. I have downloaded lots of free kits and elemetns and made my own paper backgrounds but am very daunted by the size of this site! I know there is help here but am to scared to look! Can someone hold my hand??? LOL

BTW - I live in Australia on the Gold Coast 1hr drive from Brisbane. Hello other aussies!!

I have done 2 Lo's. and yet they are too big to upload? If I reduce the size won't that mean they as good quality to print?

I have been scrapping IRL for over 2yrs and teach and am on 2 design teams but thought i'd give this a go as I never seen to get off the computer!

Any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome Jennifer!
First of all, take a deep breath

Yes the site is big, there is lots of info, and everyone has been where you are at one time, so don't be afraid to ask questions. But take your time, you won't learn everything in one day.

As for your layouts....
I save a copy of my layout in.psd format, in case I want to make any changes later.
For uploading to the web, I flatten the image, then resize to 500x500 pixels and 72 resolution. Then I choose File/Save for Web. This will save as a compressed .jpg. You can fiddle around with how much to compress. The file needs to be 125K or smaller to upload to SBB.

And yes, this is not the file you would want to print from. For printing you probably want 300 dpi.
hope that helps a little

thankyou so much jaquel and mikajomc.

can you tell me or point ime in the direction of some instructions on how to 'tear' paper - I read some but they were for PSE2. I have photoshop7 and don't know any others.

please - thanks so much!

pse is photoshop elements, a watered down version of photoshop
you shouldn't have any problem using that tutorial

Often you can take a tutorial for another program and adapt it for yours. That will get easier as you learn more about PS.

Click on tutorials up at the top of the page, then do a tutorial search for "torn".
I came up with 7 tutorials: 3 for paint shop pro, 1 for corel, 1 for dip, and 2 for photoshop.

good luck
