Question My Publisher woes...

OK, so I used them the first time, and except for some gutter issues, I was very happy with the result, and honestly it is all I can afford right now.

So, I go to upload my newest book, and it updates to a new Book Maker software. Now the first page HAS to be text only, which the last time it was not. This messes up the entire LO of my book! Anyone know how to get around this?

Also, they have now put up more info on page sizing- and it is totally different than what they said before. When I spoke to them in October, they told me to size it to 9 inches by 12 inches, horizontal only, and that it had to be sized between 200 and 300 DPI resolution- now it says :
· Hardcover & Pocket Book: Landscape (horizontal) with the image resolution set at 180dpi

o 11.33 inches wide

o 8.5 inches high

o 2040 pixels wide

o 1530 pixels high

o File size of about 8.93 MB

I set mine up as 9x12 inches, leaving plenty of gutter room, at 300 DPI. I have left them a msg, but thought someone here might have some ideas or feedback. HELP ME!

ok, click on the x on the first page and it willask you if you want to delete it and say yes...that makes your first layout your first page...
I do my pages at 10x8 at 300dpi
it should leave a white space in the binding area of the book...
mine should be here in a few days...

Well let me know how it turns out. I did not want any white on mine, so I had just created 9x12 pages with extra room in the gutter. But then they did a better job now of explaining they are NOT 9x12 pages. So I went and resized mine down to 11.33x8.5 inches at 180 DPI. The website now says they only want it at 180 DPI because anything higher does not print well. Now my last pages were 300 DPI and did fine except for the gutters, but that was more an inches issue not DPI issue. So, I hope mine turns out ok!

my book came today and it is so beautiful...there is just a sliver of white on the side...and I mean a sliver...so I might start adding a bit to the sides...but it is even prettier than I thought it would be!

Glad to hear you like your book! I am nervous about it only being 180DPI, but that is exactly THEIR instructions, so I did it, and if there is a problem with quality, it will be THEIR fault not mine, eh? Wish me luck!

While it has very little to do with MyPublisher, I do all of my pages on PE2 on 12x12 canvases in 180 dpi. I have them printed at Costco (only $3 for a 12x18 print) and they have all come out crystal clear. Most elements that we use are vector based so they resize without any loss of quality.

If you are resizing your images down for MyPublisher purposes there should be no problem.

As for MyPublisher, their customer service stinks and refuse to use them after a bad experience and some terrible printing.
