What do you do with pictures not "scrapworthy"

I just started digital scrapbooking in October. I have found I have not had one picture printed by itself since. We have taken some cute ones of Megan (mostly because we were playing with our new Digital Rebel!), but there is no reason to do a layout of the picture.

So my question is, do you also keep a regular photo album for your other pictures?

Thanks for responding!
Julie

Yes I do exactly that! I have something like four or five albums - mostly of photos that I took pre-scrapping and pre-digital. Now I plan on scrapping some of those digitally, eventually, but will keep the originals in the albums. My digitals I guess I will have to break down and print more of them soon lol, but probably only in layouts, and not by themselves. HTH!

All I have now are digital pictures - they're all stored in iPhoto (aka Picasa or Photoshop Album) and they just sit there and get backed up sporadically. Coming from a photography background, I know that you're only supposed to get a handful of print-worthy shots from a roll of film, so I guess it just doesn't bother me too much.

If they're paper pictures, I'd say just put them in some kind of photo-safe box or album. I'm lazy, so I'd vote for box

Also, how do you define scrapworthiness? If you had an event with no superlative pictures, you can still scrap it with smaller pics and more journaling if you want - don't discard memories for lack of a good photo!

I agree.....

I scrap a lot of pictures that are not necessarily spectacular because of the memories associated with them. The really bad pictures (if they can't be fixed with editing) get deleted and the rest just sit in nice little files on my hard drive , because if I don't want to take the time to scrap it, I probably won't look at it that often anyway. When I hear that commercial on radio about the people that want to get out of the computer/camera, I LOL everytime!!!

my defination of not being scrap-worthy is that there is nothing wrong with the picture.. It is cute. I just am not sure it is worth a page in her scrapbook. We have been picture-crazy since we got the DRebel. If I scraped all the good ones - I would have one album alone for October-November.

For example, I have some pictures of my DD eating a candy neclace when I was playing with my external flash. Very cute pictures, but not sure they are worth spending the time to create a layout.

I think I will just buy an album and start getting some pictures printed.

Thinking. . .

I have MY Pictures part of my computer used as my screensaver . . . so these photos eventually show up flashing around on my computer.

However --- I've often wished there was a device that I could hang in my kitchen (not my computer) which would play my pictures in the very same way.

I wish someone would make something like this at an affordable price. My sister and brother do not use a computer, but they would love to have something like a continual photo slideshow going in their kitchens or dens.

Maybe someone will market one soon. If so, I'll be buying several as gifts.

What do you do with pictures not "scrapworthy"

I have a very hard time deleting any of my pictures. If they are just plain horrible, then yes, I delete. I was the same way when I shot film. I hated throwing any picture away. I take anywhere between 500-1000 pictures each month. As soon as I move them to my hard drive, I go through and delete the ones that just can't be fixed. Then, I go through and enhance the ones that I love. Those pictures are copied to a "to be printed" folder. I try to do this all at once, otherwise it gets overwhelming. And then about once a month I get those pictures printed. Usually that's only about 20-25 each month. Eventually they will all be in a photo album, but for now they are in a photo box in chronological order.

Now, almost all of the pictures I have printed are also scrapped. However, I will use pictures in my scrapbook that I don't print because they tell the story. Everything is on my hard drive and then backed up to an external hard drive. I try to make sure I do this monthly. I also burn them to a CD for a second backup. Some day in the not to distant future, I'm going to have to start deleting from my hard drive, but I haven't had the guts yet nor the need.

Debrakin - those things do exist. Try looking at thinkgeek, I'd google them for you too but I can't think of what they're called. But there are definitely digital photo frames. They're not terribly cheap, though, it might be cheaper to get them an old colored iMac off eBay...
