Where to Begin?

I've been checking out your site for a days, and I have to admit, I'm totally confused. I don't know where to begin. I'm a fairly experienced Photoshop Elements user (just purchased 3), but that was only for manipulating pictures. I've been fairly blown away with what many of you have been able to get that program to do. I just don't know where to begin. A lot of your terminology has left me scratching my head, and I think I just need a basic course, starting from the beginning.

I do have a good computer (512 RAM and 200 GB HD), a nice scanner Epson 4870, and decent printer (but it's not large format). So I think I have the hardware end covered, for the time being. I guess what I'm asking for is some advice on where to go for a good beginning course in Photoshop Elements?

basic tutorial

There is a basic tutorial at Simple Scrapbooks
http://www.creatingkeepsakes.com/ima...structions.pdf
IIRC it's pretty generic, and not writen for any particular software.

Also, check out the tutorial section here at SBB. (See the link at the top of the page.)

And finally, watch the SBB School of Scrap for PSE classes. (They just did one, not sure when the next will be.)

Ummm....yeah...what she said! LOL. Also, you can "hang out" in the photoshop elements forum and ask your pse questions there. As well, I use pse2, so if you have any questions, feel free to pm me! Oh and WELCOME!

Welcome to SBB!

Another great place for learning PSE is on ScrappersGuide.com, you can sign up for a free weekly newsletter that has a different tutorial each week and also access the previous tutorials through an archive. I've learned loads there !!

Tandika also has good tutorials on her website, Tandika.com.

There's a free orientation the first Monday of every month which should help you get started with what exactly all this digital scrapping is about and how to find your way around this site. There is also a free class for PSE among others in the school of scrap. Check out the tutorials section for a tonne of free tuts and failing that, ask away in the forums.

There are several tutorials on my website.

The first thing I would suggest it to just dive right in and create a LO.

Decide which pictures you want to scrap

Download or create a matching background

Crop your photos and copy and paste them onto your background

Add text

Then you can add any embellishments

I know what you mean

You'd be surprised at how many "beginners" are here. I have to say "here-here" to what AmyJ said... just dive in and try to make a simple layout. When you get to a point where you don't know what to do, post a question in the forums. Also, don't miss out on the newly formed Beginner's Challenges on alternating Tuesday evenings. You can chat with other beginners & the challenge leaders, create a layout with the group, etc.
