Question Organization Question

I recently bought the March E-zine just for the organizing articles. Amy E. wrote one on organizing inspirational things that I thought I could apply to my elements. She talks about editing the properties of a file to keep track of certain info (like who made it).

I have Windows XP and editing the .jpg files is no problem. But the .png files won't allow me to type any info. Does anybody know how to change this? (I hope I'm making sense.)

I was really excited about getting all my stuff organized I don't want to break up the kits, and yet I don't want to search through all the kits for a certain colored background.

How does everybody else manage to keep all these wonderful SBB elements organized?

thanks!!

I use XP as well, and I haven't had any problems using right click > Rename to add the designer's name to the front end of the file name, for any kind of file. Then I sort kits by subject, and when I have enough collected in a category, I burn to a disc and delete the files from my hard drive. If you can't rename the actual file, try putting everything in a kit into a folder with the designer's name and the kit name. If you have a preview thumbnail for the kit, put this file at the bottom of the list inside the folder and that should be one of the images that shows on the outside of the folder. This way you can group by kit, but you'll still be able to see that certain background color without opening every folder. If the kit doesn't come with a preview, copy the sample from the download page, or make your own sample page and reduce to 300x300 pixels, big enough to print clearly on a contact sheet, without taking up much file space.

HTH,
KayLynn

For Png's right click and choose Properties. then select Summary an dthen clcik on the part that either says Simple or Advanced. In the advanced section you can add teh information you want to.

didn't work

I was doing excactly what you said Shelleyrae. I even went and did it again just to be sure I hadn't missed something.

When I go to the Properties and then Summary I can't enter any info either in Simple or Advanced. I've tried double clicking and right clicking, but nothing happens with .png files. With .jpg I have no problems.
Could there be a setting I need to change somewhere?

thanks for your help!
