Wow - do you realise that membership

Hi everyone
I've just noticed that membership to this site grew by 500 people in the past week alone - That is AWESOME..... but "me thinks" many haven't popped out of lurkdom yet. It'd be great to see everyone get this board really "rockin" and rollin". Intros - then lots of questions and answers throughout all the forums.....

all the publicity for digiscrappin i'm sure helps. as well as the SS call using SBB kits. i predict cg being one of the fast growing areas in the hobby this next year.

much cheaper than buying all that stuff at the craft store.. however, i sure hope an update to this site is done before all the "hoades" of users arrive.. navigation needs some work as does the links between different forums. Seems like there are too many boards/cateorifes to keep trakc of everything. I would love to see like 3 main categories: Beginners Help/ Tutorials/ Downloads-Templates and then break down from there.. Having 3-5 main forums allows all users to see all new messages very very easy.. without having to jump in & out of 30 catories! It is much easier to just navigate to a single cateogy and just start reading all the topics... even if they are not related to each other.. makes keeping up on the messages much easier. This is employed by many other boards and comments across the board is usually positive!

thoughts?

I love this site, but do agree a more streamlined message interface would be more user friendly.

Just my 2 cents!

This might be known by most, already...

but when I first came here it took me a while to realize... that there is an EASY way to keep up with NEW post.

I thought I would share since it took me over a month to figure it out... and I don't remember ever seeing a tutorial on it... I just figured it out one day.(even though ther are glitches with it every once in a while, for the most part, it's a great way to keep up)

So here goes my non-teacher description of a "how-to"... (LOL)

When you first come back to the site in the Forums section, and actually from almost any page where you first come back it will work... You will see at the top, under the advertisements, on the right side a box that says: Welcome, shawnyrvr. (in my case) You last visited: Today at 3:28am, it also shows you Private Message totals.

Anyway, right under that box is a tool bar line, that starts with USER CP... well about 1/2 way across, you will see NewPosts, and if you click that link... It will bring up every message that was posted since the last time you logged on... Sometimes I have (63 messages)2 or 3 pages worth, and sometimes only 11 messages(1 page)

It may seem so simple to most of you, and that I should have known this tip right away; but I didn't(I'm really new to the sites like this one) and it was at first overwhelming to me to keep up with the new posts(going into each forum, every time I came here) But once I discovered this I was just amazed that I could catch up in 15 mins or so...(unless it was a really Hot Thread Topic)

Anyway: I just thought I'd share this since it seemed if I'm understanding your post right that may be what's a bit hard/overwhelming to others, also...

PS Sometimes, the time gets screwed up, if I go to another part of the site first, and then it shows I was actuallly at the site only mins before so it doesn't show me the new posts, then I have to go to each individual forum, which makes me go Ughhhh!!!! (lol) so I just typically when I log on to the site go to the forums section first thing!

Hope this helps, someone else!
Shawna

Sorry, if this was too long! I can get wordy in describing stuff...

I'm a relative newbie, both to digital scrapping and to this board. I can't really say I'm coming out of "lurk" mode since I've posted a few times, put up a few layouts, and left some praise. I'm pretty message board savvy and I knew about the "view new posts" option but I think I agree with pesto in that there is SO much going on around here that it's very difficult for a newbie to figure out what happens when, who's who, etc. I have to say the calendar helps a bit in that respect. But I agree completely that a more streamlined message board with more organization within larger categories would make navigation much nicer. And perhaps help other newbies feel at home more quickly.

I completely sympathize with the board owners though. This place has a LOT of members to keep happy and it must be very difficult to accomodate everyone. I'm really liking it here, so you're doing a LOT of things right!!
