Anyone use Fireworks?

Just curious if anyone here uses Macromedia Fireworks to do their scrapbooking? I know it is not made specifically for photo editing, but it is what I have on my computer at the moment so it is what I am using...
Is anyone familiar with fireworks, and another program more commonly used on here, who would care to compare them for me?? I would like to know what I am missing and if it is worth me buying another program for this new "addiction"....
Thanks in advance!
Melissa

I have Fireworks and have always liked the program. I have not however used it for any scrapbooking so don't know how the end product would be to print out.

There was another post recently on using Fireworks (in the Beginners section) that stated she is able to make the document 300DPI - which would lead me to believe it would be just fine for using with scrapping.

I currently use Photoshop mostly, out of habit to open it first. I have also used Paint Shop Pro in the past, several different versions of it.

I can't think of any logical reason you can't use Fireworks. I will try to switch chairs to the PC that has Fireworks installed and do a little testing for you. But for now I wouldn't think you need to rush right out and buy anything else.

By the way, what version of Fireworks? I only have Fireworks MX to test with and have not used any previous versions of it.

I've used Fireworks for as long as I've used Photoshop (over five years now) and love it. Many of the filters can be used with Fireworks as well (Eye Candy, AutoFx). I use it for most of my web design just because it works better with Dreamweaver, easier to coordinate. I'd say for digital scrapbooking it would work just fine.

I posted a thread asking about using Fireworks for printing. I love it... it's much more intuitive to me than Photoshop and seems to have the much of the same capabilities. I'm going to start scrapping with it because I keep trying to get started using PS and can't make any headway. I think it's a great program.

I'd be interested to hear responses about print quality. I had always been told that Fireworks was for web graphic use and Photoshop for print... but since you can set the dpi to 300 I can't imagine why it would print differently. Would love to hear opinions from those who have tested it out!

If nothing else, maybe we can be the two lone Fireworks users!

Yay! I am glad there are others out there who use it and love it too! I also use it mostly because of web design, and so I am familliar with everything it can do and didnt want to spend money on another program if I didnt have to! And anytime you dont have to spend money is a great time!
And if no one else is with us, I am with you, Smithy!!! And it looks like we are both newbies here too! Double . lol

Well wouldnt you know it....I came home from work tonight and went throught my collection of CD's and found Adobe Photoshop Elements 2! So what do ya know....I actually DO have another piece of software to use, along with Fireworks. I am by no means ditching it (dont worry Smithy!) but I am super excited to have a "new" program to play with. It was like finding money in my winter jacket!
