mouse vs tablet

for creating in pse is there a mouse that all other mice aspire to? or is a tablet the next logical step?

look forward to hearing what you all use or have on your Christmas wish lists.

I have a Wacom tablet couldn't live without it!!!!
Its night and day
Like the difference between scratching with a stick and painting with a sable brush!
I strongly recommend it!

How do you use a tablet?

This might sound totally ignorant, but what do you use the tablet for? Are your actually drawing on the layout, or do you use it to point and click a marquee or lasso? How is it different than a mouse?
TIA

Well I don't know how to explain it but its like having the control of a pen instead of a mouse and its presure sensitive.
You can see what it looks like at Wacom.com

after several years of working with a mouse, I got a wacom tablet. I HATED IT!

Everyone is different, and you might like it, but I have much more control with my mouse.

The tablet went back to the store for a refund.

I can`t work without my tablet anymore . For me, it`s so much easier to draw, to create masks........to work. A mouse is unwieldy and the pen of the graphic tablet is much more comfortable (for me).
Of course you need some time to "learn" the way how to use the pen but if you know it......you won`t miss it.

At this time I`m so unlucky . Since I had to format my hard disk two weeks ago, I canīt get my tablet to run again. WinXP does not longer accept the driver. I downloaded the latest one but it does not work . Before I formatted the HD, everything was OK and now? Nothing works.
Has anyone an idea?????

To start with I hated my Wacom tablet pen. I perservered and now - can't live without it! I love the fine control when using the lasso marquee tool, I love the precise touching up I can do... and I love the painting options.

I'm seriously thinking about getting a tablet. As a painter, I think I'd rather have that control - more like really painting with a brush. I've heard though that you need to be prepared to put away your mouse for awhile.
