two tone torn paper

I have tried and tried to figure out what I am doing wrong with this tutorial written by shannon..In step 4 I go to modify and the only thing that shows up for me to be able to click on is border..The other 3 choices is greyed out..Any suggestions on what I could be doing wrong?

Okay, I'm taking a crack at this even though I just have PSE and not PS (with channels and all that) Is the paper that you're trying to tear go all the way out to the edge of the LO? When I have a selection that is basically the entire LO I can't use the Modify Selection command to Contract. Could you do the tut with a smaller selection/paper?

HTH!

A year and a half ago i had correspondance with Shannon, and she gave me different directions to do the two toned paper, let me see if i can dig them up. Shelley also had a great way of doing a layer type of thing in DIP (or any program for that matter) to create a two toned look. ( i remember begging her for that as well)

But i'll look in my past emails to see if i can find those emails from then with the directions to the photoshop tut.

Kristie

I had this same problem and just gave up. Thanks for asking the question, Andrea. Now I'll go back and try it again.

Oh poop. I still can't quite get it to work. I must have missed a step somewhere. Kristie, if you still have any of those other emails you mentioned, I would LOVE to see them. Thanks!!
