Well you can do all that "dividing" in photoshop album... you create "folders" or tags for basically anything (just as LeeAndra did) and then if I want to see a partciular "kit" I can view the designer's folder and choose to view "by folder" so that way it stays together persay.

Another cool thing.....

is that by tagging things you can later do a search for keywords or tags that you need. Say, I want a red eyelet, I just check those two tags and it will pull up everything that has those tags attatched to it (I'm using PSE3 as well).

It is going to take a fair amount of time to get everything tagged so that it is effecient for me, but once it is done, I'm sure it will be awsome!!!!!

You've all convinced me... I'm off to Walmart! I hope to spend the rest of the day "tagging" away!

I've been using Jasc's Photo Album 5 to manage mine, but I may have to switch to Photoshop Album instead. I just applied an upgrade patch and can no longer see my tag names for my different paper types that I have defined (argh!). And Jasc support doesn't have an answer because they can't duplicate the problem. Worse, I can't un-install the patch. I have to instead backup my database and un-installl and re-install the whole program. Unfortunately, I don't think Photo Album 5 is as mature a product as Photoshop Album.

All right, I think I have it figured out: I saved elements in folders by designers so I know whom to give credit. I also saved them by theme, so that I have all fall theme elements together, all baby theme elements together and so on. And lastly I printed the preview pages for each kit and use this as a catalogue. Flipping through the catalog pages seems to be much quicker than looking through the folders on my computer.

Thanks so much for all your input. Yes, it took a while to get it all organized. But I like my system now and I can actually find stuff.

I've been using Sure Thing Photo and just love it.

http://www.surething.com/ST/Category...ode=PHOTO_MORE

First of all I like the price: free

Secondly I like the way I can organize things, without having to have a gazillion folders on my computer. Basically I can make one main folder, which I have called scrapbooking (how original). Then if I choose to have sub-folders I can, and have done that, but very few - such as papers, ribbons, etc. When I open the program I can then make albums however I want, which I basically made them the same as the folders, although that would be optional. I can right click on the thumbnail and open and actual image in Photoshop, and as far as I know this would work the same if you have a different graphics program.

I can then add keywords and the album I want. When I first open the program, it searches and tells me what is new and I can take just a moment and add anything new.

I won't continue rambling on the virtues of this program, but there are many. The next thing I like is that I can create a totally separate library for photos and categorize them as I please. So I can open the photos library, choose my images, and then just switch to the elements library and pick what I want. As I pick, I can open them in PS, and within just a couple of moments I am ready to scrap.

They do have a paid "Plus" version, but so far the free version has worked just great.

Hi, can I ask a really dumb question here? I have downloaded the trial of Jasc. Photo Album 5 with a view to Santa bringing it to me - I want to get some sort of organised system for my kits, elements etc. now I have my new computer.

When you say you tag them by colour or element do you rename the individual files? I don't want to start this and discover I have made a mess, so an example would help a lot - yup, I need the "idiots" guide!!

Thanks in advance.

Jules
