Carla,
Thanks for getting the word out! Our church has done this for several years now and my kids always get so excited when they take their filled boxes to the church. I usually let them decorate the boxes with stamps and they think that is a big deal. We are so blessed as a nation and it is such an honor to be able to do something for so many less fortunate children all over the world.
I always encourage my children to be a blessing to others and this is just one way that they actually see it in action.
Lisa

I haven't seen this being done here in Norway but a great idea - in my son's day care center they have decided instead of the traditional christmas calendar (having a calendar with a gift, chocolate or so that the kids have from Dec 1st-24th which the kids there get )- the kids bring in to the day care center one gift each packed for a child with sex and age put in - it should be a toy from their own collection to give to another child. Then one kid get his or her gift hung in a christmas tree each day and then they send it to an orphanage in Eastern Europe that the day care center have some contact with. A great thing for the children to participate in.

I've looked up the local drop off center, gotten out my shoe boxes, and will send my family members out this week to fill the box. Thank you for the info and the link.

Great Idea Cardee! We always do the Angel tree in our family, but I think this will be a great addition. I"m always trying to make Christmas more about giving than receiving.

That sounds like such a great idea. I've always wanted to sponsor or something, but I cannot afford it being a single mum and all...And sometimes you don't know exactly where the money is going.. Does it matter what country you are from? I am from Australia.
