Question How to Keep Track of Credits in PS

I'm just getting started but already I can't keep up with which fonts, backgrounds & elements I've used for a page, & I've only created 4 layouts. Is there some way to save this info with the layout in PS? Janet

I use File Info to keep track of my credits in PSE. You can type whatever you want in the caption area and then you can read that info from a file browser without even opening PS. I even put a copy of my journaling in the caption. I have been known to be too long winded to fit it all in there though. LOL

HTH.

I've been more viginlant about putting stuff in the file area -- it is really helpful if you submit to magazines. You can just copy and paste the info and don't have to go searching things out.

Another little trick i use is to put in the layers pallete the name of the element and who's it is. This way i have a quick reference.

Another option is the use of the "notes" tool, available from the tool pallette. Click on the tool, draw a space on your image, and add your notes. Click to close it and a little icon shows on your image, allowing you to easily double click at any point and add more notes.

I have found this option more to my liking as I can add as much information as I want. I found the File>Info space too limiting.

File>File Info is really easy. I put the names of fonts, my journaling, any element credits etc. in there.

It's also a really nice place to put your name and contact info in if you are sending a CD with a larger sized file in for publication.

I've attached a screenshot that should get you off and running with this tool.

#1 in the screenshot points to the tool on the toolbox pallette. It is located with the audio annotation tool, so you might see a speaker instead of the little note icon.

You just click on the tool, and then draw a box on your image the size you want. Before you draw, you can change the name if you want on the options bar which is what shows in the yellow title bar of the notes box. Some people might like having more than one notes box - for example you could have one for information on your elements, and another for quotes or journaling which is my favorite. If I am not finished, or just undecided of what I want to say, I can pop ideas into the notes box to easily refer to when I come back.

Secondly you just click on the little square on the right side of the yellow titlebar and it minimizes the box to the little icon you see in #2. If you have several, you can just mouse over and it does the tool tip to show you the name of that note box. Double click and it opens ready to use. As you can see it is ready to handle more text with the scrollbar in the notes box. Drag the little icon into the corner and it doesn't get in the way as you are working. The icon is always visible while you are working so you know if you have notes or not.

Hope this helps.
