Wink Hi from NW Pennsylvania!

Hello all!

Excited to find this place (a friend from another forum directed me here for the PSP tutorials so I could make a "scrapbook sig") and excited to be exploring digital scrapbooking.

I'm an avid, but erratic, paper scrapper - I work up my LOs in spurts - and will probably never give it up completely for DS, but I'm very interested in learning more about it. My DH (does that forum speak apply here as well? If not, I mean my hubby) are trying to have our first baby, so that will probably be my next album project. I would like to be able to use DS to complement both the paper scrapbook and the future baby's site.

The album I am currently working on is for my brother - he was married in May and I gave it as my gift, and have continued to add to the pages as I work on them. I would love to use DS to supplement this album due to the cost of PS (cost is always a factor, is it not!), so some of those pages will be my first experiement with DS.

Now for my questions!

Where can I find elements on this site that are offered for free? I clicked Downloads, but there is nothing there but a message stating I do not have permission to view the images in this category. Is there a "recommended links" list somewhere for more elements on other sites?

Printing - I only scrap in 12X12 - how do you print those size of pages when/if done digitally? I could not afford my own special printer, so should I be looking for a printing shop with a certain size printer? Or do 12x12'ers adapt 8.5x11 pages to their 12x12 albums?

Last question - anyone else from NW PA? Would love to talk to you if you are! As well as those of you who aren't, of course!

Thanks!

Welcome Jessi!

Yes, all the normal 'net abbreviations work here but watch out for DS most people use it to mean Dear Son.

You have to be logged into the gallery to be able to get to the downloads. Obviously your logged in here in the forums but you have to log in again in the gallery section (with the same username and password) to be able to post LOs or grab freebies. If you're still having problems please come up and let us know.

I don't scrap 12x12 so I don't have the best info there. Some folks are using 8x8 instead. Hopefully someone will pipe in with suggestions or you can search the forums and see what folks said previously.

I'm glad you found us.

Hi Jess!

Make sure to check out the PSP forum here on SBB, lots of good questions and answers there.

Regarding 12x12, you can design at that size and print at 8x8. There are 8x8 albums that you can use too. You could also have them printed full size at a copy shop, but that may be expensive. I don't do 12x12 at this time (I do 8.5x11), but I do think a square layout is easier for composition than a rectangle. I sure some 12x12'ers on the site can chime in with more info.

Again, Welcome to SBB!

Thanks!

Thanks for welcoming me and the info!

fox-myers - thanks for the heads up on DS - I was getting sleepy and lazy when I posted and didn't want to type out digi scrapbookling Also, never would have thought about loggin into each section - thanks!

marrsa - Thansk for the info on resizing - hadn't really considered a different size for print than I was creating in PSP but it would definately work and I love the square shape best.

I will definately start searchign the past threads for 12x12 info and ides!

Thanks again!
