I would create a 9x12 page at their suggested resolution with the border already there -- that way YOU are the one in control of how it ends up looking.

My Publisher FAQ Questions Link

This is a helpful link - I emailed them with some of the same questions and this was in their auto reply - talks about sizing, etc

PHEW!

Well, I just finished and submitted my order for three hardcover books. I solved the "sizing" problem I was having by increasing the canvas size of my 8x8 layouts to 9x12 and then filling the background with white so it would center the layout on the page. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping they come back looking great. Will let everyone know how they turn out. Good luck to everyone else trying to beat the 10/31/04 deadline for free shipping. Thanks for everyone's help who PM'd me with suggestions.

I'm HAPPY!

Got my coffee table books today from My Publisher and I'm impressed! I submitted the order for three 20-page single-sided books on 10/31, received a shipping confirmation email from them on 11/10 and received the books today, 11/12, via USPS. The quality of the books are amazing for $20! The paper that they printed on is fairly heavy...it's not "cheap feeling." The album cover photo is the only thing I was "so-so" on. It could be because I didn't put much thought into what I wanted the cover to look like so it looks sort of slapped together. But other than that I really love them!

I opted not to do a title page. There is a sheet of vellum-type paper in front of the very first layout and then another behind the last layout. The sheets are semi-transparent with horizontal stripes all the way across. The back sheet is printed with:

Designed with MyPublisher BookMaker
Printed and bound by MyPublisher.com

As I mentioned in a previous post, I created 8"x8" layouts at 200dpi then centered them onto a 9"x12" white background. The finished pages are NOT 9x12. More like 8.5x10.75 (not counting the portion of the page that gets bound into the spine of the book. My 8x8 layouts got shrunk slightly down to about 7-5/8"x7-5/8". But they still look good.

All in all, I am very pleased with how these turned out!

Thanks

fantastic information! and it couldn't have been more timely in my case. I had just found out about my publisher in a photo magazine but was trying to decide if I wanted to go with them. You're advice was VERY useful especially about the size, since I wanted to do 12x12's- however I'll take you're word for it and just start reformatting the LO's I'm going to include at a 9x12 as I go along to save time. Thank you soooo much for sharing this information!

darlinW, glad I could help! I think as long as your layouts don't go beyond the 9x12 you should be okay. I don't know what their full bleed pages look like but I believe some of the people who've posted to this thread have done that and they came out fine.

Lauren...it's packed and ready to go! Getting the stretchy pants ready for tomorrow, too, LOL!!

I've attached a couple photos that I took of the book. One shows how the overall layout fits on the page, the other is a close-up of the corner of the layout that shows a dropshadow...I'm amazed at how realistic it looks.
