Need Help Backin up to DVD

Hi folks,

I'm really struggling with this. We have recently bought a DVD drive and have had no problems backing up our DS's DVDs (it was getting expensive replacing the ones he broke ). Now I'd like to back up my Scrapbooking kits onto DVD and I can't figure out how to get it to work. I've tried using Nero 6.0 which works fine with my CD's and also just 'dragging and dropping' files from my hard drive to DVD drive but nothing seems to be working for me. I use Windows XP SP2.

Anyone got any suggestions on what I need to do?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Pam.

Ok. Let me see if I can help. Under Nero do you have either Nero Express or Nero SmartStart (either should work). I have a shortcut to Nero SmartStart on my desktop that I use (but can't really remember how I got it there ).

If you open the Nero Express it should give you an option to choice what type of files you wish to burn (music, data....). Choose "data disk", "add" then browse and choose your data, when you have your items highlighted "add" (at the bottom), when your done click on "finish" (at the bottom) to get that screen to go away. Click on "next", choose your recorder, click "burn" at the bottom.

For the SmartStart you have two options in the upper right hand corner. Choose either DVD or CD then it should bring you up some options right under it if you just hover your mouse over it you see your options. From there it should be the same as above.

When I first got Nero I couldn't figure it out either! I had to have the computer tech at work show me how to create the SmartStart shortcut and since then I've been burning away!! I have a Plextor DVD Burner.

HTH! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions! I hope I didn't just confuse you! LOL!

Thanks 911Mom, I couldn't figure out how to tell Nero I wanted to use a DVD not a CD. I'll go and try your suggestions and let you know how I get on!

Thanks for your help

Helen !! - I love you, I love you, I love you !!!!!

It worked like a dream! I was using Nero Smart Start and I never even noticed the buttons to choose what type of disk I was using. I can backup to my hearts content now. Thanks so much.
