I might just like to do this.....but you wanna give me a link so's I know I am doing the right ones? LOL. Well I am pretty sure I found them, but they are pretty small. Do you have a larger version you can post? What sizes do you usually create in? 12x12 300dpi or other? Let me know!

HElp with Posting

What size do the pics need to be? I've never uploaded just a pic before or given a url - i'm really new at this. I usually create in 12x12 format.
Thanks so much!

Cheryl the pictures you posted appear to be 72 dpi which doesn't work well if you want to print them out later on a 12x12 layout - they will be really teency lol. Or pixelated if I try to enlarge them. You might get something out of this thread. It would be really helpful if you have them any larger, regardless of the exact size. Meanwhile, a rak is made eaiser if we know the names and relationships of the people in the photos.

Hi Dianne,
Sorry for being so dense about this stuff. I believe these are scanned pics. So, are you saying to resize to like a 4x6 at 300 dpi? Not sure how they got the size they are to begin with; I'm almost positive they were regular 4x6 prints from a photo lab. I'm having problems with this in the few layouts I've completed. When I go to add them to the layout they are really tiny and I usually end of resizing with corner handles. That's not what I should be doing is it? My layouts looked sort of squished or scewed. Hmmm, this is frustrating.

Can you tell me what size pic you usually work with on a 12x12 layout? So, when you go to add a pic to a layout do you resize then and make sure the dpi is same as layout or will it change automatically as said in the attached thread?

The pics are of my husband and my oldest daughter. The one labled "Green Eyes" is my oldest daughter.

Thanks
Cheryl

I don't know what else to tell you. Umm...did you scan them? Or did someone else? I don't have a whole lot of experience with various scanners etc. I know with my own, I can specify what dpi is scans at. Anyone else have any answers? These photos are going to print out small at the size they currently are scanned at. When I pop them into a 300dpi layout, they appear even smaller than the size you mentioned. Sorry dear! I can make something with them, but it may not be a 12x12 layout. Let me play around with them, and see what I can do. Might be several days now, with the Celebratory Crop coming up tonight and all weekend. Will I "see" you there? Lots of fun to be had!

If they are scanned pictures it sounds like the default dpi is set at 72. If that is the case rescanning at a higher resolution is the best way to do it.
If it is a digital picture it sounds like the person did what I did when I was new. I downloaded the pictures and change the size to 4 x 6 not realizing that I wouldn't get a good print.
If you don't have the original pictures, Miss Tanya gave me a tip. You won't get perfect print pictures but the quality is good enough to print if it an important picture that can't be replaced. For me this was true as they were pictures from my dd's wedding. Here is the tip: Using the percentage increase the picture 110 percent at a time until you get the desired size of picture. I was very pleased with how the pictures looked when I did this.

I know the b/w pic was scanned but I think the pic of the eyes might have been digital. I think maybe I've figured out my problem. I upload from camera (Nikon 4200) using Nikon Viewer; then I make any adjustments; crop and have been resizing the image to save space on computer. Is this changing the pixel size or dpi when doing this? Anyone think this could be my problem? When Dianne mentioned that the pics were too small I began thinking about the few layouts I've created and when I place the pics on the layout they are really small so I've been holding the shift key and dragging lower right handle to enlarge. Am I losing quality this way?

I've gone through some other digitals that are set at 1200x1600. Does this sound like a normal size to use? Is that approximately 4x6? I'm almost positive when checking those small pics that the dpi is at least 300.

I'm going to try and redo the pics and upload again - is there a way to remove the others?

Just when I take a small baby step forward I end up taking two giant steps backward.

Can anyone give some standards for size; pixels and dpi for photos?

Thanks everyone for taking the time to read and help!
Have a great weekend!
Cheryl
