saving to disk?

Hi! I can't figure out how to save a .png file to a CD ROM. I'm using a CD - R... should i buy a different kind of disk? I get an error message that says "This file is read-only. you must save to a different file name". If I save it as a jpeg it saves to disk just fine, but this is a translucent background and I need to keep it translucent. I can save it as a .png on my desktop or scrapbooking folders in my C drive... just not to a CD ROM... Can someone help me?
I'm using MGI Photosuite and Adobe photo shop and neither are allowing me to save to a disk.... I don't have psp.

Thanks!
Christy

I don't know why that happens sometimes but if you copy the file from the CD and paste it to a file on your hard drive it will open as a png.

If you took the file OFF the CD and then worked on it, you can't put it back with the same name. CD-Rs are writable, but not RE-writable - you can't save over the top of something that's already there... try saving the file with a different name and see if that works.

CD-RWs are rewritable. Think 'R' for Read and 'W' for Write.

I think I know b/c I just had this issue. You have the file (stil on your hard drive) highlighted, then Right-Click and scroll down to select Properties. At the bottom of this menu should be a box that says "Read Only". If it is checked, click it to uncheck. This should make it writeable.
HTH.
