Question about elements contest
Ok, for the celebratory crop...in the elements contest...it says no scans or papers may be incorporated. Does this mean we can't use crumpled paper overlays or photo textures?
Help me out ladies!

Ok I found it
This is what it says hope that helps
NO SCANS OR INCORPORATIONS OF PAPER ITEMS ALLOWED.
My understanding is that they want every little thing to be digitaly made.... Is that what the rest of you got from reading it?
Ok I have a question for you if you dont mind. I am new to this whole world of digital scrapping. And to this sight What exactly is this whole thing??? ( the contest thing you asked about and all the stuff that gose with it it is on satureday right. )I am so confused

Using crumple paper overlays and/or textures or scanned objects for a brush is fine.
The reason for saying no incorporations of or paper scans for this contest is because we will be displaying these items for everyone's dling once the weekend is over in the SBB Elements Gallery and we do not accept paper items scanned in to use digitally or digital elements which are created by tweaking or slightly adding to a paper scrapbook product.
Hope this clears up the confusion.

I am a little confused. Do we just pick a category and go for it or do we need to wait for the announcement and use theirs as an example?

I emailed my question but have yet to get a reply - so I'll post here too...
Are we supposed to exactly copy one of the elements or are we to use their format with our own ideas? Can you clarify that just a little?
Also it says "so you want to be a SBB DTM" but it seems that it has nothing to do with that but just to have our elements posted for download. Did I read that right?
Thanks!

Here is a more thorough explanation of the Elements Contest for those with questions. YOU CAN START CREATING YOUR ELEMENTS FOR SUBMISSION WITH THE POSTING OF THIS MESSAGE.
Announcement of Elements Contest - ‘So You Want to Be an SBB DTM?’
So you want to be an SBB DTM? Do you have what it takes? Part of the daily lives of many of the SBB DTMs is creating elements for the Ezine and special projects like the Simple Scrapbooks digital issue.
No, we are not choosing DTMs from anyone who is submitting elements to this contest. This was just a 'hook' or 'slogan' for our contest as the DTMs often create elements for the various projects we have on site.
For this project, 3 designers created 3 special elements: an overlay by Rhonna Farrer, a page-byte by Alison Folendore, and a kit by Gina Cabrera. What we are challenging you to do is pick from these 3 categories and try your hand at creating one of them (or all of them!). You have until 11:59 pm Eastern on Saturday, September 25th to mail them to elementscontest@scrapbook-bytes.com.
There are three categories: Overlay, Pagebyte, and Kit. You can see what they created in the Simple Scrapbooks issue as well as here: http://scrapbook-bytes.com/index.php?categoryid=31. Choose one of these categories and create your own element within this category. You only need to create one element (or elements if you are making a kit) to enter this contest. You can submit more than one element in more than one category if you have the inclination or time. You cannot submit elements to this contest that do not fall within these three categories. You cannot submit elements to this contest that are already displayed in the SBB Elements gallery, shared on your personal or scrapping website, or have been shared through an email group (like Yahoo!) or on an FTP server.
No, they do not have to be similar to the DTMs' elements EXCEPT for the general category. No, they do not have to have a specific theme, color scheme, or otherwise. Yes, you can use scanned brushes or crumple/texture overlays in creating your elements to submit. No, you cannot submit any paper scrapbooking product whatsoever. No, you cannot submit any elements, even if they are completely digital, if they were made by someone other than you. No, you cannot submit elements that are created from paper product and tweaked by changing color, dimensions, texture, etc.
Entries must be 300 dpi and include your name as part of the filename(s) with no spaces. Please include a .JPG preview no larger than 500 pixels wide.
These are our regular rules for element submission and the guidelines for creating elements for sell or trade as well. We cannot accept elements to be posted in the SBB gallery without these requirements. Your submission cannot win this contest without YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME in your element filename.
We will post these anonymously and open a poll for the members to vote all day Sunday. By entering this contest, you are agreeing to these elements being posted in the SBB Elements Gallery once the contest has ended. If you do NOT want your entry to be shared, you MUST indicate this in your entry email.
Everyone will have the chance to vote on Sunday, and this is how the winners will be determined. The Design Team is NOT choosing the winners of this contest unless there would happen to be a tie in any of the categories. The winners will be announced at 11 pm on Sunday night, or thereabouts, and will receive a prize TBD for winning. Winners do not need to be present in order to win. There will be one winner in each category. You cannot win more than one category.
All of the elements, winning or not, will be posted in the SBB Elements Gallery after the weekend unless you SPECIFICALLY state in your email with your attached element that you DO NOT want your element posted.

I must be brain dead, cause I don't get it

Where are these creations and are we suppose to copy what they already created? You've posted the same explaination several times in different forum sections, but I think this one question is still on some of our minds. I just don't get it
