$100 Rebate on Epson 1280 Printer

While gathering info for my site tonight I found this and its too good not to post. There is a $100 mail-in rebate on-line for the Epson Stylus 1280 Photo Printer. (It prints 13 x 44 so you can print out your 12 x 12 layouts.) Rebate is good through 12/31/04. The printer suggested retail is $399.

To read all the details for yourself, go here and click on the $100 Mail-In-Rebate button. Just make sure you read all the fine print, I would want anyone to be disappointed.

Something to add to the ole Christmas list...

I had also seen that there was a rebate on that printer. Is there anyone that has one? Would you reccomend it? I wish I could see a sample of a printed page, but there are no stores in my area that carry it. Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I love mine

I've been using a 1280 for quite some time. I love mine and have never regretted purchasing it. I use it for all my scrapping, even though I also have 2 newer "narrow carriage" printers. It's produced beautiful prints and people can't tell the difference between those I print and actual photogrpahic prints. I've used mine to create prints for photo competitions with no problems.

I'm wondering, if they're offering that much of a "rebate" if they're going to totally discontinue the model?

Wow, that sounds really great. Thanks for the info! I've been trying to decide if I should get the 1280 or spend the extra $$$$ on the 2200. I really didn't want to spend that much money though. I wondered what the print quality was with the 1280, I've been able to see what the 2200 can do (my sister has one) and I really wanted to find out how the 1280 compared. If people couldn't tell the difference between regular prints and pictures you printed it must be really good. I think I'm sold on the 1280 now, especially with that rebate they have on it!

I just did a little reading on this printer on epinions and the reviews said that the inks for this printer are non-archival. So where my HP prints are supposed to last 70+ years, I think this Epson says something like 25 years. And you're supposed to keep the prints under glass, etc. Just something else to think about. It was enough for me to decide against it at this point. Also, it seems that it only takes one ink cartridge? That can be a downfall too. I tend to lean towards those with 4 or 6 ink cartridges.

archival values

You can always go to:

and get the research on how long prints for your printer (or one you're considering buying) will last.
