Question The male is confused about tubes.

Hi ladies and the few guys out there.

I thought I knew it all about Photoshop 7 until I started snooping around these forums. Boy was I wrong. There is some amazing stuff around here.

So far I've picked up a few terms such as tubes and elements and I've even scanned some scrap booking stickers such as stars and things.

Question, How do I set up PS7 so that I can drag and drop my scanned stickers directly into my opened image.

Another Question, I've never come across the term "tube" before. Is there an equivalent term in PS7.

Where I come from a tube is a can of beer.

Thanks Ed

Hi Ed,

Tubes are transparent images for paint shop pro, not photoshop unfortunately, as for their being something similar I am not aware of it.

To drag and drop your files into photoshop, have it open then open the folder containing the image you want and just drag it from the folder to photoshop. Easy peasy.

I just re-read your post, you can drag your scanned image into photoshop them drag and drop it into your layout and move it around the way you want it, you will probably have to get rid of the white background around your scanned stickers I am guessing which you can do with the magic wand tool.

Hope that helps

Thanks Trish

I have been experimenting with what you suggest.

I think the best way will be to scan my stickers, extract them as individual items using the wand tools ,copy each one to their own idividual layer and then save as one .psd document.

That way when I need the shapes its just a matter of selecting using "select layer transpancy" and pasting them into my layout.

A lot of work but I can't think of any other way of doing it.

Thanks again.

Ed you could scan a whole page of stickers, make the background transparent save as either psd or png and when you want to use them make a selection around the one or ones you want then copy and paste to your layout

Time consuming I know but once you have done it you don't have to do it again

I've been using photoshop for about 7 years and I still learn new stuff about it.

Good luck

You can also scan all your stickers that will fit on a page together, then use your magic wand tool to get rid of the white background (if there is one) and save the whole document with the multiple stickers as a png file. Then when you needed one of the stickers, open the png file and use the selection marquee tool, copy and paste it onto your layout page.

A png file would be smaller than the psd file (I think) and it would have transparency.
