Angry Printing promblems with PE2

Hello- I am pretty new to this and just got PE2 tonight. I was using Scrapbook factory deluxe (SFD), but I exported all my LOs to PE2 so I could use some updated elements that need transparency. Now I am trying to print them just as I did with SFD. I never had problems printing my LOs in SFD (12x12 on my epson wide format) but now that I exported them, they will only print like 3x3 in PE2. I have changed the image size within PE and also the document size within the printer preferences-still no luck. Currently in PE2, image sixe is 12 inches by 12 inches with 150 pixels/in resolution. I feel that I am pretty computer literate, but this is driving me insane. Can anyone help? I really appreciate it!

I haven't run into this problem before but I'm willing to take a crack at it. What does PSE say when you do a Print Preview? Does it show that you're printing 12' x 12' hopefully scaled at 100%? This is my first thought of things to check. If that all looks right, we can look at other possible problems. Or maybe another PSE user has an idea.

HTH!

PSE printing suggestions

How did you resize the image? Did you go to Image-Resize-Image Size? Make sure you're sizing in inches, not cm, pixels, points, etc. Do you have the rulers displayed on the desktop? Go to View-Rulers and you can then check to see the actual dimensions. You might also want to go to Edit-Preferences-Units & Rulers to make sure your ruler is displaying inches.

The suggestion to look at it in print preview is a good one. You should be able to see how it will display on the page and choose whether you want it centered or not. You can also scale it there if necessary. If you scale the image and don't click Center Image you can move it wherever you want on the page. If it's set up correctly for your page size and you click Scale to Fit Media you should see the white margins around the edges (unless you can print borderless on your printer).

Also check to make sure your print setup is configured properly.

Hope this helps.

Talking Thanks!

Thank you both for your help. This problem was like a car, it's never broken when you take it in... As I entered the print menu to make sure I did all of the things as you both suggested, it looked fine so I printed it. Of course it was printing 12x12 just as it should, without touching anything. Who knows what was going on last night.

I am wondering though, is there any way to make it look less distorted? It is not as clear as it was when I printed it using Scrabook Factory. Just wondering. Thanks again for all your help.

Most likely if your prints are not as crisp as they were in your previous program it has something to do with either your resolution (pixel per inch in the file itself) or the dpi (dots per inch that you are printing at).

Carole asked about how you resized your image and that's likely where something got confused on the resolution. One way to check your image size is to click and hold on the image size shown in the lower left hand corner of PSE. Mine shows 8.5 inches x 11 inches normally. When I click on it I get the following information.

Width: 2550 pixels (8.5 inches)
Height: 3300 pixels (11 inches )
Channels: 4 (RGB color)
Resolution: 300 pixels/inch

If your resolution is significantly lower (100 ppi and lower), there just isn't enough information in your file to print a really clean looking image no matter what dpi you print at.

HTH and let us know if you have more questions.
